I think that it's a bit far-fetched, unless they pick-up Cobo and maybe De La Fuenta with him because otherwise, i think the 4 invites would be Caja Rural, Andalucia - Caja Granada, Cofidis if Moncoutié is still willing to do the race and Project 1t4i. Other choices could be Coldeportes, United Healthcare (again in case of merger of Ginaetti's squad with them)

What do you think?

I am not so sure that they will coose both Caja Rural and Andalucia - Caja Granada which would open up a spot for Coldeportes, United Healthcare or Europcar.

ASO has a 49 percent share in Unipublic. It's not far-fetched at all.

Skil-Shimano's invitation is a case in point.

Andalucia - Caja Granada don't really deserve a spot, but if they don't race, I fear the sponsor will pull out. The problem is their budget and they have to field less than reputable guys like Jesús Rosendo. Whatever happened to José Ángel Gómez Marchante?

in 2011, Caja Rural was an obvious choice but they still selected Andalucia for the reasons LS mentioned. So this year, it should be Caja Rural's without any doubt.

As for JA Gomez Marchante (i used to be a big fan), he retired end of 2010.
He never got back to his previous form because of all his crashes and injuries i guess.
I think Andalucia were much more decent when they had Tondo on board.

tbh i would be disappointed if only they won't invite Caja Rural and Cofidis (with Moncoutie) but as i think they are 99% in, i hardly care about the others.

Thx for the info, I didn't know he had the crohn's disease. It's a shame, especially that there is no real treatment for it yet.

What's wrong with Rosendo? The guy's been cleared.

If you want to talk about less reputable guys at Andalucía, let's talk about David Bernabéu.

As for the more reputable rider there, it should be Gustavo Cesar Veloso. But I don't know what form he has now.

My bet is Caja Rural, Coldeportes and Cofidis for sure. The last spot I don't know but what is the case of Europcar without Kern, Voecler and Rolland?

And they used to have Vicioso too I think. Another very decent rider.

Rolland and specially Kern still have to prove they aren't just one hit wonders. When are the wildcards announced?

caja rural pretty much has a guaranteed spot this year, only thing that could go against them is that they went from a very spanish team to a spanish 3 whose leaders are portguese riders lol but i don't think that will be a factor mostly because prolly only the cardoso's( andre and manuel) will ride and broco will do the volta instead.

Manuel could easily do both. Sprinters can do that.

I'd be disappointed, but the rumours on the parcours suggest it's all about the MTFs, which would suit Andre. Hernâni is a better time triallist, but he's yet to show the durability - he always falls on the last big stage of the Volta, so I guess it's sensible to have him do the shorter race. Aramendia, Moyano and Sánchez Pimienta will keep things interesting, while Aitor Galdos will get involved in the sprints if Manuel Cardoso isn't feeling it. It's not a bad little team at all. They've lost two very solid climbers but replaced them with two more, and upgraded at the sprinter position.

Losing Chuzhda might be a big blow in terms of TV exposure though, that kid will break away given a hundredth of a chance.

moyano and yelko gomez are riders with a good future possibly. they are also good climbers. although gomez might develop more in classic rider. moyano could be both. he was 3rd last year in tour san luis

I think Thuarau might be a good rider for Europcar. Rolland if he sets his mind to the Vuelta could possibly top 5. Hopefully the route will be climber friendly. It would also be good preparation for the WC.

I was a bit surprised to see Bernaudeau say that Voeckler 'gives this race a lot of importance'. I was always under the impression that neither Bernaudeau or Voeckler were that bothered about La Vuelta. I think that Voeckler has only ridden it once in 2005 when he was 101st? Their priority has always been the TDF and presumably still will be. I would prefer to see a non TDF invitee team who are prepared to try and animate the race get the nod for La Vuelta over Europcar.
