Kirby never sounded so uncomfortable and awkward as he does with Philippa York.
I take it back. Like the true pro he is, Carlton has warmed to his partnership.
When Kirby is matched with McEwen you know you're in for a fun ride. They just feed off each others silly jokes. Useful for stages where not much happens.
OK sorry for my immediate laugh, was in relation to what I've heard plenty times about his "qualities" as a salesmanIf you wanted a spot on his team, you needed to buy a plasma spinner that he would sell you. Rick Crawford learned everything he knew from him.
or an even more cold Dan Frost.
There was a stage of the Vuelta it happened and it just spiraled into them being unable to talk properly for a few minutes because theyd got the giggles so much, I think they'd got on to toilet humour about Vingegaard and some monastery they were looking at that sounded like poo. Poor Dan Lloyd didn't know what was going on when he joined themthat sounds worse than hell
Watching the replay of Binche. Jose Been is unbearable. You wouldn't even know there was a bike race going on. She has spent an hour gossiping about TJV & SQS. Sounds like I'm reading the CN forum.
It's all anyone's talking about, and also the end of the season. I enjoyed the race, but at this stage, the only real discussion point was can they drop De Lie. And for me, Hannah Walker was the weak link. Better than she used to be, but still excitement over content.Watching the replay of Binche. Jose Been is unbearable. Pippa sounds like she just pocket dialed the broadcast boothCartoon Kirby.. a face for radio, perhaps.
but Pippa York.. a voice for print, definitely.
all i'm hearing is one long mumble.
dreadful communication skills for audio commentary.
CK may communicate bollox, but at least i can hear what he says.
Remco is from another planet don't you seeA classic in the Tre Valle commentary today: "Van Wilder is one of the best young Belgian talents in the world"
I would think his "Oh, no no nonono no nooo" any time anything adverse happens or comes close to happening could make driving rather stressful.I was driving today, couldn't watch Lombardia, but put the GCN app on thru my car audio and listened to the last 40k
Actually was very pleasant and rob hatch did a really nice job painting a picture of whats happening.
haha, ironically when i turned it on he was super informative, with the race situation, km to go, the parcours and the riders.I would think his "Oh, no no nonono no nooo" any time anything adverse happens or comes close to happening could make driving rather stressful.
Agree. Last year she was a great addition. Very knowledgeable about all of the courses. This weekend she just talked and talked during the women's race. Maybe she just needs to get into the groove again this year.I like Helen's input normally ,though hadn't realised cross season was back on, maybe shes been schooled by the Discovery commentators book of restating the obvious, but normally she spots things only an experienced rider would do about lines to take or where riders are losing or gaining time, and isn't just filling time by stating positions all race.
I would agree with that for the most part.idk I thought she was fine. The women's race was decided before the end of the 3rd lap and there were large gaps between the even the minor places. Wyman mostly talked about technical items, rider prep and schedules. To me it fit a season opener with nothing interesting happening in the race.
When Chris died, they took away our best commentator, but Vinjebo and in particular Lars Bak is filling the shoes as best as they can. Great commentary from both of them, often spot on tactically and usually better at reading a race than Rolf.
Now Staghøj just needs to be replaced. Guy is spending half the time asking his co-commentator if that rider isn't rider x and a few funny jokes here and there doesn't make up for it.
Speaking of former riders, Asbjørn Kragh is the dirt worst commentator I have ever listened to. Just bring in Bastian Emil ffs, what's so hard about that.
Staghøj has been fired because he didn't want to cover the Tour any more.
