I'm happy to call a halt to this line of discussion, but don't pretend that you weren't the one who took my observation/rhetorical question and tried to make it into an argument, nor that your aggressive line of questioning was intended to do anything other than undermine my observation.

Whilst on the topic of cyclocross, why are all the men's races shown live on the channels, but the women's get relegated to 30min highlights later in the day ?

And yes I know Discovery player, yada yada, but they were showing repeats when the women's race was on.

I don't know for sure, but there are more important sports on at the same time as the women's race (Ski-ing/ winter sports, snooker) which have finished when the men's race starts.

Early season Cyclo-Cross is of far less interest to me than watching Hirschi beat up a field of minnows in a 1.1 one day race on a random Tuesday in September.

Wake me up when the big guns decide to show up.

So far, unless it's an attempt to get higher appearance fees, or some pointed message to the UCI out of last years season conflab , the big guns have all said they're unlikely to be showing up this season.

What we learned in today's commentary:
Blythe thinks that the warm-up criterium has UCI points: Cox is not sure that it isn't World Tour;
Blythe is evidently on a bonus for mentioning Narvaez as often as possible;
Cox has decided that Withen Philipsen's forename is French;
Cox thinks the XDS Astana jersey is difficult to distinguish from Bettiol's Italian flag jersey;
Both of them are happy to assume that the Picnic guy in the sprint finish is more likely to be Koerdt than Lund.

And perhaps my favourite:
Cox doesn't know the difference between remonstrating and reminiscing: "Bauhaus reminiscing in the background there" over a replay of the finish. Twice.

Great recap. Although I think they did say Andresen. I at least didn't notice the mention of Koerdt.

I also noticed that Cox was very, very reluctant to admit that Van Poppel had done anything untoward and that Andresen looked like he was angry with himself... Blythe did at least call that one out.

Wasn't it also Cox who very, very begrudgingly had to admit that Iserbyt probably stomped on Kamp's gears?

Probably because Blythe butchered his name so hard that it was difficult to understand who he was talking about. But Blythe was definitely convinced it was Koerdt and not Lund Andresen when reviewing the sprint replay for the first time after the finish.

In general I don't mind Cox too much though. He might be a bit incompetent, but he's at least somewhat relaxing to listen to, and he's humble instead of obnoxious and self-centred.

Fair enough, I have to admit I didn't listen too carefully. I don't particularly enjoy listening to either of them, and I frankly find Blythe a bit hard to understand at times.

It was indeed. He does seem unduly concerned to never express an opinion. Company instructions?
