I do like Luis Piçarra too. He's an intelligent, thoughtful person, and he's clearly learned a lot about cycling through the years.

Sometimes I feel for him, having to put up with Martins' crap. Especially with Martins refusing to ever admit to being wrong no matter how obviously he's been found out.

Not to mention Martins' outright awful grammatical skills when he's caught red handed (and even when he isn't!). At least he isn't salivating after Cunego nowadays.

Track Commentary

So we,ve had to 'suffer suffer suffer David Harmon's repetitions repetitions repetitions which have now infected Tony Gibb Gibb Gibb.....and now we have Carlton Kirby shouting the Grand National Horseracing commentary on every race in the World Track Champs.

I,ve restrained myself up til now as Harmon does seem to have improved in the Road Racing commentary.

It is annoying when people keep repeating themselves.

Anthony McCrossan started the 4 Days... off then was replaced by some guy who I hadn't seen before for the Sun-Tues stages, the surname was hyphenated I thought (something Bass?) and his first name was John or Jonathan. But I've deleted the programme and google is being unhelpful, probably because the name is wrong! :D

Harmonn switched at the Zubeldia question saying " Because hes done absolutely nothing, like 150 other riders" and then for the next 5 minutes recited from memory presumably, riders at the Tour whom he also hasnt mentioned

" I havent for example mentioned David Moncoutie, Or Jermome Coppell or Dmitri Fofonov. I havent mentioned Amael Moinard or..." going through at least a dozen riders.

poor woman, just wanted to ask a question, but it was still quite funny.

Sorry for responding so late to the OP but wouldn't Moinard have done something by that stage which makes his point wrong???

Fingers crossed that Carlton is back for California next week.

Why: So he can spout endlessly about it becoming the 4GT and lopping a week off the Vuelta to make it happen?
If so, I hope Big Maggie is back to tell him it will never happen.

Maggie was agreeing with him. said he would like to see it and that the vuelta would probably be the one that has to go.

Kirby let it be known on his last attempt to commentate that he is an ex-Geography Teacher - now that explains why we get an in depth 'A Place in the Sun' - Judith Chalmers description of each town and country that the peloton cycles through.

Would rather have Kirby giving background on the locations than Harmon reading out idiotic comments from twitter, I'm sure some people ask these daft questions just to get their name read out.

I,m writing to acknowledge that David Harmon has improved 100% - in my opinion - he,s not hogging the microphone as much, seems to have learnt a few more riders other than Team Sky and Cuddles, and seems a lot more knowledgeable of the sport...so congrats Harmon. Now Kirby is another matter......

Wrong! Harmon is far worse this year. The only team that exists this year according to him is Sky and then its only 'cav' and 'brad'. All other riders get short changed on Eurosport UK. Quite often the TV picture is on a non Britsh rider/non sky rider, and Harmon just ignores the screen and witters on some irrelevant subject. Is Eurosport owned by Mr murdoch and Sky now?

Its a pity the days of unbiased commentators have gone - I prefer to make my own opinions of the riders, with commentators just giving a factual commentary. And nationality is not a criteria i use to judge riders. I wish it was possible to choose which eurosport commentary you watched, - France, Italian, Belgium, Norwegian instead of the one where you currently live.

but he can now pluck out facts from like 10 years ago and talk about a victory or rider - that isnt rehearsed - i hate to admit it but he cant possibly have done background research on stuff that flows on from what Kelly is saying. I was his arch enemy but now he,s beginning to impress.

Doesn't he have to know who you are to be an arch enemy?
