Maybe they made an exception for the Worlds, the mens elite race anyway. Five hours ad free and Carlton free, great viewing. The commentary depended on your view of Shane Sutton of course.

They have occasionally had commentated special channels.
They made one for the Giro this year, and I've also watched some not-actually-shown-on-television stuff, sometimes with various language-commentating; Cadel Evan's race in English last year, I think they just used the same commentator globaslly, and - I think it was Handzame - in Dutch, my understanding was… limited.
As for the Worlds; I didn't watch that on Eurosport.

What crazed nonsense was Kirby going on about throughout the post-race in Istanbul about Lutsenko only having to have finished one place higher than his 13th to have retained the overall?

The sum of Prades' positions (20+21+15+3+25+2) was 86, Lutsenko's (29+20+7+1+45+13) was 115. So he would have had to be 30 places better off in total to have taken the overall. And it would have taken more than the cited extra turns of the pedal to have finished 30 places better than 13th. And the co-commentator is almost as culpable for sitting next to him and allowing him to speak such nonsense unchallenged.

Huge round of applause to argyllflyer for the diligent work needed to keep the thread alive.
Maybe there should be some year-end awards for the best posters. If so, argyllflyer would win hands down in the category that has yet to be named.
Impressive work, argyllfyer. To be honest, I donèt know why I look forward to your updates, but the fact is I do.
You are awesome.

We should hope that Argentine TV has fixed the satellite transmission of images because i remember some years ago Giardini (the then commentator of Bike Channel with Savoldelli) when asked about Tour de San Luis he answered that they asked for the rights of the race because they were interested for a live coverage but Argentine TV answered to them that they couldn't guarantee the TV signal abroad.

Anyway in january i would have preferred to see Tour Down Under, Vuelta San Juan has a way poorer field and the route is essentially four sprint stages (+ one slight uphill), a TT and the false flat of Alto Colorado, probably the worst South American race in the calendar.

Is there a schedule of races Eurosport uk are covering this year.?

Which ones live and highlights and other channels coverage in the UK?

It tends to be the same year in, year out give or take a few races. So last year's schedule a few posts back is a good indicator. There tends to be little during January but will ramp up into Feb.

Assuming rights not changed, ITV4 will have their usual offerings of Tour de Yorkshire, Tour de France and Tour of Britain, I'd have thought. BBC will have their Ride London-Surrey Classic.

Thanks for the news about San Juan. Nice to get the cycling fix a bit earlier than usual.

Jose Been is leaving Eurosport after they offered her a reduced roster. Have only heard her a couple of times commenting on women's races in the UK and she seemed pretty good. I suppose The Netherlands isn't short of expert commentators though?

Apart from RCS races we usually have the luck to have access to Sporza, with often some of the best commentary I know.

Dutch ES isn't great though, but I didn't consider Been to be one of the better ones on there anyway. I usually try to watch as little on ES as possible, cause of all the commercials and Juan and only stuff.
