I'm not a Kirby fan usually but I actually warmed to him a little during the track events. I feel like the less familiar you are with the sport, the better he is. He's great at creating excitement at things I otherwise wouldn't have cared much about

I can’t remember if it was the men’s or women’s madison, but he did a great job calling the last few laps and explained what was happening and what the points ramifications were.

It made the coverage better as the debatable camera work would have made it very difficult otherwise.

Grote Prijs Jef Scherens was Been solo.

On the women's side Ladies Tour of Norway gave me a headache. For the first 10 min, breathing was so heavy it sounded like Darth Vader was doing commentary.
Then Marty McDonald's constant uhs and stuttering plus inane what if scenarios (50 km to go on flat road leading to uphill 10 km finish, "I wonder if [GC Rider X] will take a flier.") I don't know why he's so annoying on road races but OK on cyclocross. Is it because cyclocross has constant action and he doesn't have the skill to fill the dull parts (like our friend, CK)?

Yeah glad he wasn't on for the entire stage this time. Probably had a strop when Kirby took the piss out of his prediction.

I guess I could look this up, but since I'm here I'll ask what's on my mind: What is a strop?
You guys in the UK have such a mind-boggling amount of burns that makes it hard to keep up.
I feel like I learn a new one every day.
Kudos.
Sorry for the interruption. Carry on.

Not sure that C-o-S would appreciate being considered one of "you guys in the UK".

A strop is argumentative annoyance. Someone much given to such moods would be described as stroppy.

Probably derived from obstreperous.

Example: The proud Irish CN contributor had a strop (or became stroppy) when he was referred to as one of "you guys in the UK".

Thanks for the reply. No offence was intended, but thanks for the heads up. Mental note: Don't say you guys in the UK.

On the NBC feed this morning, the main feed with Bob Roll and Christian Vande Velde keeps cutting out and then we get for 1-3 minutes the International English language feed on low volume with Spanish commentary at the same time. Fun times.

Hey man, I feel ya. But at least you get a feed.
Tiz-cycling has been a reliable source for a while, but now the screen freezes every two or three seconds. In the meantime, I've missed defining moments of the race; and given the fact those moments were accompanied by my man CK waxing poetic, it's enough to ruin someone's day.

I find cyclingstream.com freezes less than tiz.

Watch out at the start of next season for the GCN half-price offer. It was only £20 for me here in the country that used to "own" Ireland, so it'll be the equivalent of that in your ex-colony. That way you can just listen on demand and have Carlton speak to you all day long.
