Call me old fashioned, but I prefer commentary on site at the venue; the analysis is fine from a studio. I understand under Covid times that remote commentary was needed, but not now.
The World feed commentary are on site, and a shame we can't select it.

But we have Wiggins on site for analysis which consisted of time trailing being the Race of Truth and that the guy who won the time trial is the strongest in the race and will win it.

Yesterday was a day made of Kirby. We could have found out all types of useless facts about Hungary and he would have had a bit of banter with Kelly. Hatch is poor on banter..it's all either semi-serious stuff or a bunch of shrieks,

This is generally the problem with having them broadcast from England as they're not able to give little anecdotes about bumping into riders or team officials or tell us about a cool cafe, stunning scenery or whatever. There's so many boring days in GTs that you need a bit of colour.

And yeah I switched over to Dunkerque as well. It felt strange listening to Kirby doing a fairy minor race while "Sideshow Rob" was with the lads on Giro duty.

While that stage was on in the background I watched the MTB from Albstadt on Red Bull TV; and what a change to see everyone on site; commentary, post show/analysis. I fear under Discovery/Eurosport we may get the UK studio based commentary, as we see in Road/CX races.

Eurosport have rarely had the commentary team on site. The Tour is an exception. There have been 'on site' pre and post shows though for the Giro/Vuelta, not the commentators themselves though.

Looking at the new SBS Sports team, maybe it's Gerrans who wound up in McKewan's place. I think I prefer to listen to McKewen. But there's a bunch of others as well in this new team, so who knows what/why the dumped RMcK - anyway he's got a better gig it seems.

Horner but since he has slagged off every GCN analyst (including Kelly who reckoned vdl did a good lead out on stage 3) I can't see that happening.
