I don’t think that’s accurate. His operation was definitely done in Slovenian University Medical Center and was probably covered by our standard (universal) health insurance. I don’t think it was the same doctor though…

I'm referring to his post-operation physical rehabilitation. The Slovenian doctor he saw last year treated his knee injury. According to Heijboer, the team was very involved this time & they sent Rog to see a tennis specialist in the Monte Carlo area for his shoulder treatment.

One of the complaints last year was that the team let him ride Itzulia with an injury, after which he went & found someone in Slovenia by himself to treat it (the same doctor who accused Jumbo's team doctors of forgetting their Hippocratic oath). So this time it definitely looks like Jumbo went full in with helping him on the path towards recovery.

I'm trying to remember if there was another crash beside the No Risk, No Glory crash that caused that idea.

I think Roglic is a good descender, but he also just seems to not be scared and take a lot of risk naturally. He also used the super tuck a lot, so his descending right now is gonna be a slightly worse off because of that.

At the same time, I find it a little weird that Pogacar is seen as a good descender for some reason even though I've never seen him do anything special in a descent and he never takes time in a descent either.

Yes, I don't think Pogacar is particularly good there, either. Sometime, I think commemtstors just decide at random that rider x or y is a good descender based on absolutely nothing.

I miss it a lot too. It takes the sting out of a lot of descents.

I don‘t get that sentiment either but I think you brought that idea up more often than anybody actually defends it. Maybe it‘s a commentator thing, but coming back to Roglič he had the Paris-Nice crash and the Giro 2019 crash on the Como stage, which is more than most others have but it isn‘t really an excessive problem.

IMO there's multiple aspects of bike handling that sort of tend to get pooled together, and not all riders are great or bad at all aspects of bike handling.

That is why I've read that other riders call him 'Fearless'. As in that guy jumped off mountains he has No Fear!

I remember this perfectly. That's when I was hoping that he would grab the podium from Froome. And something about him made me think that he was the next big thing.

Pogi showed in the Tour last year that his descending is nothing special. He's quite good at positioning, and staying on the bike in general, but his descending isn't a weapon.

Yeah in 2018 Dumoulin, Froome, and Roglic were fighting for the final 2 podium spots, and Dumoulin was mad after Roglic got draft from the motors of the descent, but he really didn't do a good job holding the wheel himself and Dumo didn't do supertuck while Rog did it as much as possible.

I also remember the follow up complaints by Dumoulin and Froome that Roglic was aided by the camera bike. This clearly shows in every pan-back shot the bike was completely away from any draft position just trying not to be overtaken. When they hit the flat 4km run in, it was behind him and he still put time into the pursuing field that included Geraint, Chris and Tom; all handy TTers. I also remember some similar descending episodes in the first stage race in Romandie that was broadcast available. The commentators didn't focus on him until he'd done some serious bridging efforts and, if I recall it was the first time I'd heard reference to his prior ski-jumping skills.
My impression from Romandie "this guy can ride".

I think Dumoulin was quite a sore loser. Also the Giro last year, how dared Simon Yates beat him in a TT? No point in continuing the career then.

Calling Pogacar a mine worker was much better. That is just pure salty perfection

I think Dumoulin was a good guy who simply didn't enjoy his job in the last few years of his career.

We know Roglič liked & respected him, i.e. on a spectrum between Bahrain & a no risk no glory suicide descent (basically that's Rogla's 1 to 10 personal gauge between his most hated & most loved things), Dumoulin was probably a solid 7.
