Four Predictions for TDF 2011

1-Schleck will target the prologue as a season objective.

2-If there are stones, Contador will be glued to Spartacus's wheel.

3-Schleck will ride with one of those chain guard things.

4-It will be one hell of a race--just like 2010!

Good predictions.

I will add a few more:

1. Evans and Wiggo will not ride the Giro and will be 'fresher' for the Tour.

2. There will be no Armstrong drama (thank goodness for that)

3. VDV and Farrar will be larger factors

4. Cavendish vs. Greipel (sp?) will make for an exciting showdown in the sprints

All of these (in addition to the OP's) will make for another great race

I definately look forward to Griepel, Cav and Tyler going for it in the sprints...yet, I must admit, Cav is KILLIN' it and doesn't look beatable by anyone in the peleton right now. And i don't even like him, but I give props where they are due.

1.Ricco will punch alberto or andy right in the face while wearing the yellow jersey, then he'll be disqualified and arrested.(quickstep please sign this guy!he'll make things really interesting.)
2.Cavendish will win 8 stages
3.Basso will crush contador and andy in the mountains.can't beat ricco though.
4.Kash and Vino to make the top 10.

1) schleck doesnt win even as conto doesnt ride the tour he targets the Giro and vuelta instead. Valverde will hold the spanish precident. Vino will keep astanas image with a top 5 placing.

2) Cav pounds the sprints but Tyler Farrar actually wins a stage.

3) Wiggo rides as he should have this year

4) Cadel takes 2nd place as is his custom (The guy must be going bonkers, kinda feel for him like jan ulrich)

If the Schlecks ride for a new team they will need great teammates and support crew. A new team did not work for Wiggins this year. And maybe that is why Contador is rumored to stay with Astana.

Don't rule out a Riis team contender.

1. The podium will be Contador, A.Schleck and Nibali (not sure what order though)
2. Cavendish will finally win the Green Jersey (I don't think he will pip Petacchi this year). His nearest challengers will be Farrar, EBH and Haussler. Greipel won't make the top three in any stage.
3. The Polka Dots will be won by someone outside the top 30 on GC and probably French (maybe Gadret - I know he's top 20 this year).
4. Nobody in the top 15 on GC will have done the Giro.

Bonus no. 5: The team time trial will return - but a short one, less than 30km.

I think contador will be back to his best. No one will stand a chance.

I don't know what was missing this year and maybe AC doesn't as well. He just wasn't firing on all cylinders like earlier in the season. And he still won the tdf...ain't that something.

1. AC has been talking about doing the Giro and the Vuelta. He will continue to talk it up until Schleck decided he needs to beat him head on in the Giro. AC might let him with the idea of tiring him out and will be back to 09 form in le Tour

2. I predict ASO will continue with this 60km from the last climb bs to make **** more "interesting"

3. Mario Cipollini will come outta retirement again to overtake Cav in stage wins

4. Levi v. Alphonse will be Versus' major PR campaign

Ricco would have taken overall this year, he will only be beat next year by Greg Lemond who will return and ride only a fixed gear bike.

For those who dont know the 2011 tour will start with a sprint stage, in Passage du gois, a peninsula which twice during the day becomes an island as the road to the rest of france is flooded, so the departure will have to be timed well, and could be a spectacle.
The second stage will be, as i mentioned, a 23 km team time trial in les essarsts.

It will then continue anti clockwise, through western france in the following days, then turning into the pyrannes at the end of the first week. After 3 stages and a rest day in the pyranees there will be the transision stages, and then the main event, the alps.
One of those stages will be a mtf on alp d huez.

I am guessing there will be 2 itts, one long 40-50k one in the last few days, and eithere a 20k one in stages 5- 12 or a mountain tt up alp d huez. (or perhaps both so 3 itts)

The last stage will be the ceremonial sprint again.

Good prediction,

Ill go you one better.
The team time trial will take place in Les Essarts and will be 23 km long. Oh and it will be the 2nd stage

;)

I genuinely didn't know that. Even though I'm not a TTT fan, I think it's a correct inclusion. Short enough to destroy GC chances, but long enough that teams have to be a bit more balanced, rather than a battery of mountain domestiques that Astana seemed to have.

Bet schleck will now wish he wasnt leaving the cancellara, gustav larsson, richie porte team next year. Could have given him a 30 second advantage if not more over contador.

And will htc have any gc men, because they have a great tt squad.
