Friction shifting to index shifting?

Following on from my previous post (http://forum.cyclingnews.com/showthread.php?t=6003), I have now received the bike. Currently it has a friction shift on the down tube. It is 5 gears, Sachs-Huret components. Can I change the shifter to a friction one? If so, what should I be looking for? For instance, would this (http://www.biketoolsetc.com/index.c...nts&sc=Shifters&tc=Downtube&item_id=SU-137A/5) be OK?

Indexed shifting is dependent on the spacing of the cogs on the freewheels/cassette. I see Sunrace and IRD do make indexing 5 speed FW's ..... so it should work.

Not sure why you'd want to. Enjoy the retro thing. If you still want to the drop outs will stretch to take period Shimano stuff.
