FYI, that “Black Box Warning” is meant for only the cohort of patients for whom the drug was approved—kidney disease/renal failure patients. When it’s prescribed for other types of anemia that is an “off-label” use, with doping the ultimate off-label use.

Just because a blood boosting drug exists doesn’t mean it will make an effective doping mechanism. There are other erythropoiesis-modifying drugs but they may be even more detectable, have more side-effects, and cost more than EPO.
