Getting Fixed (snip)

I am about to go under the knife for the snip (vasectomy sounds incredibly painful). My reluctance thus far has been purely cycling related. How long will I be off the bike? Anyone with experience please let me know. If this has been covered somewhere else, please redirect me. thanks

Well i had my "Snip done"about 2.5 years ago...It took about 3 weeks before i had the courage to go out on a ride,but everything was fine..
Sidenote:My wife says I perform better after the snip"

Had the procedure done and three days later did a week-long bike trip in Vermont and New Hampshire. It is just a couple of incisions. No pain. I just made sure I washed thoroughly down there after each ride and put some triple antibiotic ointment on the incisions before and after each ride. Don't use too much ointment as that can cause a rash in some users.

it depends on how the doctor does the surgery. I could get on the bike that day, no problem. My buddy had a really old doctor who did it old way and was out 3 weeks.

Don't know the method the doc used on me, but was probably the old fashioned way. After all the drugs wore off it felt like I had been kicked in the groin really hard. I wanted to ride, I was really missing riding, but you couldn't have got me on a saddle for weeks.
