Well it looks like the 2013 Giro is going to beat the 2008 Tour.

Lifted from the team page...

An excellent representative of the new generation of Russian riders, Maxim Belkov is already an experienced professional rider and comes from the famous Russian cycling school of Udmurtia. During his debut season in Katusha Team, Maxim showed himself to be a strong team rider, who has serious personal ambitions in ITT races as well as in oneday and stage races.

If true, this is excellent news. I can't see any other explanation than that the new EPO test is implemented.

Wouldn't surprise me if we see a considerate drop in w/kg on the climbs in TDF. The peloton should be worried now. Time to go even more micro.

2013 Giro is going to be what the 2008 Giro should have been. They are 5 years late.

That quote is indisputably true. The new generation of Russian riders: Galimzyanov, Serebryakov, this guy!

Why's everyone so sure it's Belkov? Apart from the fact that he definitely got tested after his stage win we don't know who else did.

Time to go to recuperation meds only. Especially if you can not afford those transfusion programs.

That reads very much like a political advert, cycling has sunken very low.

To beat any new test riders will now be required to 'picodose', injections every hour.

I don't see how anybody can take these cycling performances seriously.

Purito regretting to have prolonged with Katusha?

Don't think so. Hes on a retirement deal and Katusha pays big. Should something happen (team closing etc) J-Rod can easily use his points to negotiate a deal with any other outfit while taking some level of paycut.

J-Rod is old school, neither Ekimov or several positive tests (if they are related to other riders) can shake him.

Why would Katusha close? Russians scared away by doping:rolleyes:

looks like they "wisely" revealed the secret well before the Tour

No it doesn't, it is what you would expect from a rider profile like that.

While I agree the TdF's power output will be down, IMHO, it's Hein and Pat punching a few tickets to appear tough on doping, for now.

Given the French anti-doping authority appears to be doing on-the-ground logistics for the UCI, there might be less room for the UCI to ignore positives.
Maybe ASO's made it clear they want a controversy-free centennial TdF?

This is the part I was referring to:

To me it seems keen to disassociate him with the previous generation(doping era) of riders as many in the current peloton have been attempting to do in the past several months. I will abstain from getting into the comparison to a recent election...

That is definitely the hope. I say catch them. Catch them all. The best thing for cycling is that the cheaters actually fear the tests.
