Pogacar & Vingegaard battling it out in Italy makes sense. Especially if they include Stelvio from Prad + Bormio 2000 & Finestre - Sestriere!

In that case Evenepoel 100% should race and try to win the 2025 Tour de France however.

Anyway there won't be Stelvio + Bormio 2000 either. The race will be centered around Finestre on the penultimate day. When the race has already been decided and not much happens anyway.

I find it much more plausible they are trying to negotiate with all 4 in parallel hoping to get 1 of them and none of them are biting.

Would explain why they suddenly want an extra 3M from Enel to be the main sponsor of the maglia rosa.

It’s just a long-standing tradition in the cycling industry, and in industry (think fashion, smart phones, etc) in general when introducing a new “product.” Probably makes the media and corporate sponsors happy, but pretty irrelevent to fans except for providing a talking point in the off season.

Putting out a rumour of their participation makes excellent sense for the organiser looking for a jersey sponsor.

No Albania would probably mean a normal Saturday start and no extra rest day - unless they decide to start in some other crazy far flung place.

I believe they can still change it.
At the same time I wouldn't say the start from Albania is unlikely. Not yet.

Of course, if they don't start overseas (well, further away than just a neighbouring country) they won't need a third rest day/transfer day.

Nah, it's politics. Italy pays Albania to send immigrants there. Italian courts are questioning the legality of the deal so it might get cancelled. The Giro start somehow was part of the deal.

The Tour has it's all stages in France and yet there's very high amount of transfers.
