Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2025 Route: Speculation, Rumours and Announcements

Incoming - Mortirolo from the wrong side for a 3rd successive time
It's a bit meaningless. But it could still be a good route regardless. The negative aspect now seems to be a bit wrong pacing of stages and climbs. Especially the big Aosta stage the day before Finestre-Sestriere and a big MTF the day before the Bormio stage where also it would be much better with a Gavia than wrong side Mortirolo.

They could've had an epic stage with Gavia and even Bormio 2000, it could simular to the 2004 stage or even better by going via Campo Carlo Magno.
Then, if the Gavia isn't passable, use the wrong side of Mortirolo as a back up stage. Like how they planned a back up in 2010 for the Gavia on the Tonale stage

Exactly. A stage with Carlo Magno, Tonale, Gavia and then end at Bormio 2000. But also a proper sequence of the stages on the preceeding days.

The best option given the current rumours would be first a Monte Grappa via Bocca di Forca, then the fastest descent towards Foza and the stage finish in Asiago. Then a rest day followed by a medium mountain stage, and not a big MTF to San Valentino. Then the Gavia-Bormio 2000 combo.

The last week a proper Aosta stage with Saint-Panthaeon, Arlaz, Zuccore, Joux and then Champoluc, not the latest sequence mentioned. And of course Finestre-Sestriere.

These stages and the current rumours with a sterrato stage and San Pellegrino in Alpe the first week,

This would be a really good route. Not it seems a bit more average.
