at least in the Giro and Tour, I would think the points jersey is still among the most prestigious things a sprinter in cycling can win. And usually those slightly harder full-point stages are exactly where the difference for that can be made.
Also the KOM jersey has often ended up with the GC leader so the points jersey is a real seperate competition from the GC.

teams only got limited spots (20 apparently) on the charter planes, so I guess some people will (have) arrive(d) much later. Including media etc. But it would have likely worked out somehow, yeah.

Yeah, the fact the best GC guys are also the best climbers has taken some of the luster off the dots jersey.

I'm surprised a good amount of people (not necessarily here) seem to think actual sprinters can contest this stage. Am I overrating this climb?

The climb is plenty hard enough to drop the sprinters, but who would do it? Is Corbin Strong good at very long climbs? People could also attack on the climb but I don‘t see who‘s allowed to get away. For me it‘s all very uncertain. Could be good racing, could be a severe underperformance on the profile.

But if riders are attacking they are automatically increasing the pace so sprinters should drop. I can't see them going so slow on that climb that regular sprinters like I don't know Milan and Magnier would survive? It's a 14km climb...

We’ll have to see who goes for it tomorrow, but maybe a lot of them want to save strength for stage 5

Reminds me of the 2024 Vuelta stage where Groves beat Van Aert after a similar climb.

Groenewegen won't make it but I don't think many other sprinters are missing out on the sprint.

So stage 10's ITT looks like it could really cause the GCto be drastically changed. Apart from Vingegaard who can do a decent TT from the contenders?

Arensman can/should do very well.
O'Connor and Gee can be quite decent as well.

That was a significantly harder climb, though.

The other problem is that NSN and Movistar will have like 5 domestiques left between them at the top of the climb if they want to drop the likes of Lund, difficult to maintain pace all the way to the line to keep everyone dropped with those numbers.

Half of NSN came down on stage 2, including Strong, so honestly not really sure they will contribute much to a hard pace on the climb, or even be able to. I'd also rate Vernon as a better climber than Magnier or Milan, so they may even be interested to keep that option alive.

But yeah, all in all difficult to say how this will unfold. Maybe I'm undererstimating the climb a bit, but I'd normally think the likes of Lund, Aular, Turner will make it. Maybe van Uden as well, if he doesn't suffer too much from his crash. His climbing shape looked great in Turkey.

If he’s healthy, then a big chance. But it’s hard to get information about how hurt he was by the crash.
he looked pretty banged up, but no idea how he recovered since

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if an Ethan Vernon makes it to the sprint. But maybe I will be positively surprised and somebody actually does something on the climb.

If they don't manage to drop Magnier and Milan on that climb they should all just quit.
Is Magnier really that bad at long climbs that he gets lumped in with Milan? I think he‘s been pretty good on mid-length climbs previously
