That's only for the World Tour teams; with marginal gains and a really comfy team bus they don't need to dope in this era. It's only the pro conti and amateur teams who are dirty nowdays.

Probably took big risks (glow times) as probably needed to be 'on form' for the 100th Giro.

Bardiani also need to perform to get in next years race as for Italian teams this race is their season and as we have seen so many Italian teams fold or merge if not in the Giro.

Be interesting to see what they got popped for. But they are only doing what all the others are doing.

What would be interesting is to see how many riders racing the Giro have been OOC tested and when.

If the team is allowed to start at all Is the "two doping violations within a certain period of time equals short team ban" thingy just for MPCC teams? Can't imagine Bardiani being part of that?

yeah from reading the UCI statement it sounds like the whole team will be banned.

I suggest that Bardiani will be withdrawn from the race - Which will only leave one Italian team in the Giro - Such a shame

Yes, there was probably a lot of pessure by the team to peak for the Giro, the rest of their season has been pretty poor and they are far back in the Coppi Italia that Androni is pretty much dominating.
Too bad, I kinda liked Pirazzi.

Pirazzi and Ruffoni aren't particular minnows. Both would be well known to most of the Giro's audience, particularly Pirazzi. They are obviously not genuine big fish but they are as prominent as most WT riders.

Pirazzi would be known. Italian public doesn't give a fig about doping. Giro organisers probably welcoming the publicity.

Sadly, my thinking as well. I think it's a case of 'less funded' teams and riders getting popped to show that 'the drug testing is working.'

Wonder if that will be that, or they'll catch a few more small fish and let them dry out in the sun while the big boys entertain the crowds and bring in the $$$$.
