Giro - Tour double now feasible ?

What has changed that the Giro Tour double is attainable now ? I remember a few former contenders, including Contador, Quintana of the most recent who couldn't pull it off as their bodies needed more rest. Now I'm reading where Dumoulin and Froome and able to and looking forward to it ? I'm curious to know what has changed ? Blood bag ? aicar ? micro dosing ? inhalers ?

Maybe we should first see whether Dumoulin and Froome can actually pull it off. Pretty sure Contador and Quintana also looked forward to it before the Tour started.

From what I have read it has to do with the Tour starting a week later than usual. So that extra week of rest will SUPPOSEDLY allow Dawg and Dum. to be more competitive this year.
But like the others stated, let's wait and see.

easy to say that but you can't actually back it up, even when bikes are getting tested you won't believe the result of the scan...

and I'm sure you tell us all the UCI don't want to find motors as it will kill the sport..

I saw something where gary Blem said he would happy to take apart and re build Fromes bike in front of anyway if they gave money to charity, maybe start a crowd funding and see how you get on

Does that extra week allow Dumoulin to go back in time and somehow make RCS award both him and Froome the Giro..?

What has changed?

SKY changed the game!! The "marginal gains" is what changed everything, whatever they're made of....

BTW- Froome currently has won 3 (three) Grand Tours in a row ( Tour, Vuelta & Giro) with a good chance barring a ban or an accident already riding the Tour, that is likely to win it.
What more ridiculous can ever get in Pro Cycling? I mean- SKY is already defying human physiology, since Froome & Co. don't seem to even get tired at all .....

i dont need to prove it.

Gary Blem is full BS just like all of Sky. Talk is so cheap with Sky.

Remember they did find motors in bikes. Femke and a French amateur and an Italian amateur.

The idea that the pros dont do it....hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Talk is so cheap....Indeed, but then again so is saying motors without any truth of the claim

I gave 3 examples of motors.

It is like catching the masters racer for EPO or steroids while the pros get faster every year.

The didn't pull it off the last 20 years what makes you think it can happen now. Especially few years back when they were not checking for motors.

Seven people have pulled it off, with only two of them (Pantani and Indurain) from the deep EPO era. Armstrong, of course, wiped out 7 of the last 20 years because he dominated the Tour and didn't attempt the Giro. For Froome, who knows. Because of the World Cup he gets an extra week of recuperation between the two.

Another way of looking at it is all four of the five time Tour winners managed the double. So it may not be that inaccessible for a rider of sufficient quality. And how many riders of sufficient quality have attempted it in the last 20 years? Probably only Contador in 2011. And I'm not sure he ever planned to do both. Basso could had a crack in 2006 having won the Giro. But aside from them... Quintana didn't even win the first one and is yet to win the Tour. 2015 Contador wasn't as good as 2011 Contador.

A) We don't know if it's feasible, it's at most halfway done so far

B) There's an unusually longer time between both these years due to the World Cup, increasing chances of a double. This is not a permanent change.

20 years?
That's why it was posted like that.
