Would really love kiryienka on the team. Strong helper for Bertie and speaks Spanish one have to presume. Dunno about his contract status though.

Menchov. Fits the bill for almost over the hill riders and would give Bjarn a bit of GC backup in case of any further dodgy butcher related situations.

It would be all very well for them but would Menchov ever go to a team where he would be required to be subservient to Contador?

I wouls say Silin, if they can get him it would be a stroke of genius and he doesnt have much of a team as he was picked up by Astana after he left Katusha because of inner team quarrels

How about Novikov for a young rider with some climbing ability? The others all seem to be on Katusha's feeder team, Rusvelo.

I was going to suggest him but his season so far this season has left much to be desired..
He certainly has talent though and would be a shrewd catch though I think it would be better for his development if he stayed at Vaconsoleil.

Sergey Firsanov
Andriy Grivko
Thomas Löfkvist
Jelle Vanendert
Maxime Monfort
Robert Kiserlovski

They are not Russians but they are generally good riders for Saxo to have.

Lofkvist seems very likely to leave Sky possibly and of course Saxo being now part Scandanavian would be a suitable destination.

Monfort wants freedom and I think he will only accept offers if it means he can be the leader/co-leader in a GT.

Kiserlovski seems content at Astana but he is a talent who will require leadership and with their 2 GT leaders +possibly Nibali it may get a bit squashed.

Vanendert certainly not, I dont see why he would leave a Belgian team where he is one of the leaders and has free reign in the classics.

Grivko possibly but once again I am sure Astana would want to keep him and I dont see why he wouldnt want to stay

Firsanov looks like a good rider who I havent heard of but he obviously isnt all that good if he is riding for Rusvelo so I am unsure how good a signing that would be.

SHALUNOV Evgeny, came in as a Radioshack signing last year in August, then they didn't extend, so he went back to his old team. He won Vuelta a La Rioja this year.

Kiriyenka (Belorussian) - the main reason why Valverde won Vuelta 09.

As punishment for what he did last year.
While we're at it have Tinkoff's muscle beat up the Schlecks, assassinate Prudhomme & Pescheux and last but not least punish the female agent employed by Becca who caused the pile up on stage 1 last year. Remove TTTs altogether, campaign for everyone going vegan, no races on wet/with traffic furniture/with corners roads. Place Spring Classics in autumn cause of allergies etc.

 Epic fail.... Besides I don't think that kid that caused the pile up will like being called a female agent.

I think they can sign Shalunov

Eighteen months ago I went to the Alcides Nieto Patiño velodrome in Cali, where among other the Russian squad Lokosphinx where participating. I was particular interested in seeing Evgeny Shalunov and Kirill Sveshnikov, whom I had seen some months before (through youtube), crush all bar Bob Jungles at Vuelta al Besaya. I predict both Shalunov and Sveshnikov a very, very bright future on the road.

I communicated to the best of my abilities with a member of the Russian outfit. I literally pumped him for all the information possible about the two talented youngsters.

E. Shalunov is like the Russian answer to Thomas de Gendt. Extremely opportunistic riding style, mixed with an endurance out of this world! On his day he can climb and TT with the very best and is undoubtedly the best prospect out of Russia.

K. Sveshnikov is more of a lightweight, but I can guarantee it doesn't show on his output. He is a good climber, can TT and is also reasonable fast. A very well rounded rider! There is a little bit A. Valverde over him, as far as rider repertoire goes at least.

Another option for B. Riis could be Matey Zubov. M. Zubov is part of Russia's 2016 Olympic track program. I love this guy's style, pure gong-ho. He attacks in every race he enters and he knows how to suffer and then some. We can say he is like a Russian Thomas Voeckler in terms of characteristics.

Nothing would please me more than to see B. Riis start focusing more on up and coming riders!

Kiryienka is Belarusian, is settled in Navarre and is well liked and integrated at Movistar, and Unzué is a big fan of his - he was the only non-Spaniard in the '09 Vuelta squad, where he was entrusted as Valverde's main minder. They'd have to open the wallet and pull out quite a lot to get him to move. If we're going with non-Russians from ex-Soviet states, they would be better served going for Konovalovas, who has stagnated completely at Movistar, or Oleg Chuzhda who will ensure the jersey gets plenty of airtime at least.

The Lokosphinx guys are the most likely, but on a note before, Rusvelo isn't Katyusha's developmental team - Itera-Katyusha is. Rusvelo is linked to the national team, so it is partially linked, but riders there will be easier to get out of the Katyusha setup than Itera ones. Firsanov is definitely worth a look, and Shalunov and Sveshnikov look to be the best of the young guys coming through at Loko. Also Sergey Shilov - he has a few good ITT results and does well in the Iberian scene, although he has already served a doping ban, which may hurt his chances.
