Google selling doping product

My post about "Doping in Sport" on Parrabuddy was edited to incorporate an item from Shawn that i thought worthwhile ! On pressing "publish" i find a Google ad for "EPOboost" !

Has Google lost all conscience when they are attaching a "Doping Product" ad to an Anti Doping Article ?

Are they so desperate for ad revenue that they resort to these tactics ?

What hope for the younger generation with this type of " In your face adverts"?

Google have strict criteria for approving adverts - anything Pharmacy related goes through extra scrutiny - guessing this comes under the guise of supplements rather than pharma in so much as an iron tablet would.

As for targeting Google don't do it on purpose - they have an algorithm that matches common words on the page and displays ads they consider relevant. It's why you won't see ads for flower arranging books on a cycling site. The advertiser can also specify which sites they want their ad to appear on.

Personally I'm more affronted about the agenda to push HGH on the Livestrong site, especially as there isn't anything in epoboost that is on the WADA banned list.

On purpose or not, latest news is that Google is being investigated by the FDA for promoting drugs.

Google Said to Be Investigated by FDA for Drug Advertising

Google Inc. (GOOG) is being investigated by U.S. regulators including the Food and Drug Administration over whether it knowingly accepted advertisements from online pharmacies that may violate the law, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.

There is a certain irony and/or cycling connection to this story as Caitlin was being criticized for having PED ads on his blog site.

What was obvious at the time, is now being formally investigated. What is more intriguing is that the Caitlin situation appears to have been a case of an overzealous Google algorithm. But, this appears to go deeper.

Is this a separate FDA investigation, or has it arisen out of the other FDA investigation that the cycling community is monitoring?

Dave.

Google knows from tracking your internet usage that you are very interested in doping. Google is going to send doping-related emails your way. Targeted internet advertising.

Actually EPOboost is very interesting! I have seen an advert for it which is a superb piece of marketing BS using every underhand trick in the book.

I have used it as an example of Bad science in the media and how companies can try and mislead people by using scientific language. It also uses other media tricks as well. Very clever but totally immoral imo. Fooled most pf the people who I showed it to.

An even better example is BS that is used to market alkaline water.

...or oxygen water! Might be sweet if you have gills, but apart from that you better be getting O2 from your lungs - your stomach's not going to help...

I think a great idea would be to encourage people NOT to go near you're blog until Mr Google has joined the forum read your post and taken down the offending material.

Don't put adsense on it. By having it there you are profiting from the pharma companies you complain about.
