If that's the same video that was around when the website was first put up then it also mentions other Aussie riders like Cadel. Now, I'm sure he didn't sign for them so I don't think its a case of *wink wink nudge nudge* but more blanket statements covering most of the renowned Aussie cyclists.

Interesting to think what teams that GE will put up next year. I think that Allan Davis could be a big improver this year with the team and he seems more of a one day endurance type specialist than a pure sprinter....how he describes himself as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klhJ1O5-BhM&NR=1
I think Clarke will also make that team as could Bobridge.

I think Allan Davis had his time 2005-2007. Dont ever see him regaining those lofty heights again.

Gotta say, Davis has ridden for some seriously dodgy teams.

Yes. But Alby seems the kind of guy who needs to motivation to get in shape and it wouldnt surprise me if the opportunity to ride for an Aussie team is just what he needs to get back in some really good form. Even if he does there isn't that much room for him to have his own opportunities at GE IMO - there are a few guys who are as fast or faster then him. Maybe there will be a few stages in the Giro that will suit him.

I am sceptical about Alby. Known to be lazy rider. I don't see him doing much unless he changes his mentality a bit though with what happened at his Australian home in Bunddaberg this year and with Astana not selecting him for many of the races, it wasn't an easy year for him.

I am in the glass half full team with Alby. I see his 2009/2010 as much more significant. In a team with limited support, injury and the cloud of accusations that he had to live through were probably fair reasons to lose motivation and interest. Lets remember that he finished 3rd in the 2010 World Champs beating people like Gilbert, Cancerella, Evans, etc and then won the Commonwealth Games gold medal and beat the current world champ who was in pretty decent form (understand he had no team help with his small Isle of Man group).

If he did turn up to the 2010 TDU 8 kilos overweight, then surely something was going on over the off season but to get back, lose that weight and perform so well at the end of the season....strangely enough in national teams rather than his trade team.....must point to some pretty hard work in training. So maybe we have to put the lazy tag into context. He is still only 31.

It was a pretty common to hear those sorts of comments about him 18 months ago. For my own definition I would say he spent a bit too much time grazing in the top paddock, and possibly lacked motivation. He even acknowledged that himself. I wouldn't say he was lazy per se.

You would have to admit though that he has really only peaked for two races in the last three years?

Not surprising seeing as in his interview on Cycling Central in reply to 'the roumers that you will be joining greenedge have been quite strong, is that a squad that would suit you?' he said '...i'd love the opportunity to get involved with such a group, but time will tell the story and we'll have to see how it unfolds'

Would be a good for him and the team if he does end up there. Wouldn't be a lot of competition within GE about which rider gets into the breaks on big mountain stages.

Not to sure, but sounds like McEwen was brought in only for a few races (to pick up his UCI points). O'Grady & Dean could be on 1 year contract, however as they both came from top teams, there must have been some more incentive - either a 2 year contract or 1 year & a job with the team.
