Hans-Michael Holczer non-appreciation thread

His claims about never knowin' nuthin' about what was going on in his team (Schumi, Kohl, etc.) never rang true to me.

Then giving Hoste the shove after Hoste suffered a brain injury in a crash at De Panne...

Sheesh...hope there's a big lump of coal coming for Hans-Michael this Christmas.

Maybe Hoste was let go because the last time he didn't suck was 2007. You only get so many years before team managers start thinking, "Maybe we should spend our money on someone else."

Holczer certainly told the world what Leipheimer was doing.

Hard for him to say he knew nothing when the UCI told him that Levi's blood values were so crazy he should be pulled from the Tour

But Hoste did have a valid two year contract with Katusha which was due to expire at the end of 2012.

Most of Katusha sucks. Let's not forget their excellent performance at the Tour this year.

Holczer is either the most gullible, naive moron in the world or a ****ing liar. I remember his interviews in Spiegel after Gerolsteiner broke down where he was all "oh no how could Kohl and Schumi betray me like that, they always knew I'm against doping so much. I'm jst a highschool teacher, how could I know anything about doping?..." Complete bull****. Gerolsteiner was never clean, and he knew it. Say what you want about Vaughters, but he's 10 times more authentic than this guy.

Leaving at home a guy with a valid contract after such a bad accident is not really nice.

one look at hans michael holzcer and you understand that a guy that incapable of anything didn't know anything of riders doping either. I hate him as much as the next person does but as far as doping goes the guy is totally innocent.

...but they're still honoring his contract from what I understand. Holczer/Katusha decided they'd just rather not have his presence on the team. The only reasoning I can see is that it opens up opportunities for other riders that they want to invest the time with. Initially, considering the circumstances and severity of Hoste's injury, I felt it was a completely classless act but I softened my opinion somewhat and can see their perspective. Still though, unless Hoste was a complete ego-maniac and a rider that was extremely difficult to ride with and for, it seems they could have found a place for him, especially considering his vast experience would have to be an asset.

hoste is not an assett. he is mentally like devolder and he will retire in 1 year or make his career even more pathetic by riding for an even smaller team

The way the guy completely fell apart as a result of the way Gerolsteiner went persuades me that there was probably a certain amount of truth in this. I think he knew what was going on to a certain extent, but I think he really believed it would never touch him personally.

lol at holczer innocent, that guy thought gerolsteiner is untouchable and they were hanging out with the pompous french.from that matter i didn't care about schumi and kohl and pretty much i don't like the guy
holczer is one of the reasons i want saiz back,at least he was a brilliant tactician and he knew everything about cycling

no he nevr knew anything about it. he was a total f'n idiot and an utter tool. I suggest anyone to watch a zdf special in which sinkewitz and holczer were in the studio and sinkewitz told how he doped himself without others knowing and holczer visibly and verbally upset the guy was almost in tears feeling and realising how he was had the same way by the riders of his team. this guy is so naieve it's unbelievable. he kept asking sinkewitz why he did it and about ethics. totally out of this world. I can never take that guy serious in a manager role or any role unless it's the role of a person getting screwed

Exactly this.
And me joining bigtime. Wait. No, I'll just leave it like this.

Enough said. Not even worth insulting.

Lol. Their all Russian Team failed and to cap it off their main rider who has actually podiumed at important events had a positive test.

Next year hopefully they do not bring that attitude to the race and can achieve things with Menchov. Maybe send Moreno as well if only so we see a repeat of of 03 Beltran> ( leading out ) Armstrong.

I also don't like how they treated Robbie McEwan.

So therefore i don't really like him for this either, though Hoste might be too old.

@ Spalco i agree with you about JV. I actually quite like him for his eccentricities and also his tactics/ getting the best out of his riders. He has also developed some good Aussie talent ( next year Haas ) and he has developed a team that can go well at most events under Peiper. ( However his womens' team is going down which is not good but probably not indicative of his experience/ handling )

What baffles me is that Katusha have the money to get anyone they want. There were teams folding and merging, quite a few good DS's and managers were out of jobs ... yet they choose to go with a high school maths teacher who hasn't worked in cycling for a couple of years, and whose teams were either famous for doping or being the least successful team in history.

By getting a new manager they were trying to fix their team but their decision to get Holczer just about sums up everything that is going wrong at Katusha.

whoever is in charge of katyusha he is the worst possible manager. tchmile was horrible and anyone with brainbs could see that coming and how holczer and also their transfer policty has got to be the worst in the complete wt. they have a total of 30 million budget a year for all their teams
