Vladimir Gusev who turned pro for Bjarne Riis in 2004 at CSC, before join The Hog at Discovery Channel in 2006, and finished "4th" at Paris - Roubaix in that year, won a few TT's, finished in the top 10 at the 2007 RVV, wore the White jersey at the 2007 TdF, and he won a mountain stage at the 2007 Tour of Switzerland. Gusev then moved with The Hog to Astana for 2008 until he was fired for "abnormal blood values", Gusev sued for unfair dismissal, and won.

Now more then 18 months on, he is without a pro team, has he joined the black list, or what is the story with Gusev? Haven't heard anything from him lately.

If you look of Volodymir Gustov in the CN database, you'll see a picture of him. :D

What do you mean by "blacklisted".

What was he "blacklisted" for?

He signed on to Astana Internal Testing and he failed the internal testing.

Is he being "blacklisted" because he is a suspected doper?
Probably. Is that a bad thing?

Hiring him might send a bad message if you want clean sport.

And yet Ricco, Millar, Piti, LA, Basso et al are still riding

You're a Lance fan, right? If so, you might want to think about what you wrote very carefully.

If you could point out which of the team bosses that are not hiring Gusev are the one(s) that want a clean sport, I'd be interested to know.

Here's a hint: Gusev brought a lawsuit for unfair dismissal from the team and he won the lawsuit.

The original poster wrote this in English in his post but you have showed yet again your inability to read and comprehend.

Vladmir did NOT break Omerta.

Vladimir did NOT name names.

Vladimir did NOT spit in the soup.

Why would anyone think he was "BlackListed"??

You guys crack me up. Poor little Dopers waa waa.

"The Astana Cycling Team management has terminated their contract with Russian cyclist Vladimir Gusev due to irregular test values. The values were gathered during internal out-of-competition control tests under the supervision of Danish anti-doping expert Dr. Rasmus Damsgaard. The team has applied the contractual clauses based on these physiological and biological abnormalities."

Oh no, it's because nobody will hire a rider who's blood values show a possibility of doping. Unless of course he has won a lot of races. Like 7 Tours de France for example.

Seems like The Hog made him a sacrifical lamb for some reason. Probably some kind of political crap that went on behind the scenes within the team. Hog saw an opportunity to throw Gusev to the wolves and make a public relations move to demonstrate the seriousness of his internal testing regime as well. That's purely speculation of course; pulled directly out of my ***.

Kind of like Bob Roll pretending to show a little spine to the UCI so that he might be not seen as a LA chamois sniffer, while sniffing away.

Sued where?

In civil court? or sports court? If people are trying to say he is the victim here, don't you think there is a reason no one will touch him? Maybe, the other teams know more than message board readers. If I am misunderstanding you guys I apologize.

It was The People's Court. Special tribunal made up of Judge Wapner, Judge Judy, and Judge Joe Brown.
