....got up in the middle of the night just to sit in the garage and look at your new bike?

I can't be the only one! Or is this a disease?

You're definitely not the only one.

LOL When my wife works late evenings, I'll often bring mine up from the basement and into the living room, leaning it against the fine furniture. Funny thing is, she caught me once when I forgot to take it back down before she got home, and she never scolded me for it. She just said, "Do you really want your bike in front of the window where everyone can see it?".

My first thought to that was "h-e-l-l y-e-a-h".

Then, remembering that my pickup truck was stolen from my driveway... h-e-l-l NO"

To answer Boeing's question, I never got up in the middle of the night to watch her, but on those cold winter trainer sessions in the garage my eyes were all over her. She's a well-used 10 year old Litespeed, the one with the head badge that fell off. That's why I've got to patch her up like new (Headbadge repair thread).

No way! My new bike has its own bedroom. (Or did have, until I got married).

Nope.

New bikes are always parked right next to my bed for the first few months

I do this for every bike. I've done it with cheap Surly frames to top of the line Colnagos and everything in-between. But those bike staring sessions usually involve beer too at this household.

The only bike my wife will allow in the bedroom is the Ritte Bosberg. For the first time in a long time I can get giggy with my eyes open ;)

The joys of living in a tiny city flat. Bike remains visible from pretty much every spot in the flat. including when i am in bed. Cannot see it from the bath, probably why i rarely take long baths

down side to living in small city flat. has been made very clear that ONE bike is being tolerated. any more will not.

Have you ever ...

taken pictures of your new frame and send it out in a gag e-mail to co-workers stating the specs (weight, size, make, name) and throw in a hint about a shop where you have a listing of the components you need?

And you actually get a few guilty people tossing a few bucks in to the cause (mainly because they got a killer gift when they had a baby). Having the other bikes in the background of the photo probably also helped, need to support so many in this economy.

:D

Snap!

40% of the guests at my wedding were the owner and staff of my LBS. :D

(and I am NOT kidding...)

Definitely. Used to have the bike in the bedroom too. But wife didn't think my suggestion that she could go in the shed instead was funny :D

I'm a student, living on a main road with no off-road storage. It lives within about 4m of me wherever I am in my room.
