Helmet for big head?

My head measures 61-62cm and finding a helmet to fit is pretty difficult. Finding one that fits and looks good is even harder. My XL size Limar 909 fits well but looks huge on my head.

I need to replace my helmet soon. Can anyone recommend a good road helmet for a big head that's also "streamlined"?

So what about the Giro helmets? Their large/ex-large are pretty large, I think they will fit you if your head is in its shape, which is the deciding factor, not everyone has the same shape head. As for streamlined, not really sure how streamlined you can get with a large/ex-large helmet, you might be asking for too much there. Rudy Project are another brand with a large large, if you get my drift. Again, large/ex-large is going to look huge because it is huge, sorry man.

My head needs a 62-63 size helmet. As previously mentioned, it depends on the match between the shape of your head and the helmet. But there are plenty of options out there. Lazer Helium is one, The Giro Ionos, Atmos or Aeon, and the Bell Sweep, Volt, and probably it's new Gage. Scattante Spyder (which is a duplicate of BBB's Falcon- Team Vacansoleil- found on the Performance site) fits my noggin too, but it's a closer fit than the previously mentioned lids. I don't love it, but you might find it to be a good slim profile fit. Good Luck!

Giro Saros

I use a 62-63 cm Giro Saros. Best option for me anyway, fits like a glove!

Yeah, you look like a blimp using helmets with a big head, but if looks are important, why even bother a helmet in the first place :p

But if you feel that a 62 cm bike helmet is a bust, just wait till you get a motorcycle! I look like an astraonaut, but hey, I'm just too old to care, safety first! :D

Cheers, Sage

Casco makes some pretty low profile road lids. If your head is more round than oblong then the Attack model should fit pretty good, although they are pricey.

I have the same trouble with helmets due to my big fat head. Better than having a pinhead though isn't it?
I used to have the Giro Ionos and it made me look like a blockhead.
Luckily I totalled that one in a crash.
I now have the Specialised Prevail.
With everything extended out to the limit I can just get the large one to fit and it looks ok I think.

What I ended up with

I tried Giro and Lazer but none suited my head shape so I ended up with a Louis Garneau Diamond size L.

And I'm resigned to the fact that if you have a big head you need a big helmet and it will look like a big helmet and there's not much you can do about that. ;)

First time I have noticed that model, ton-o-vents! Will have to check it out on my next helmet purchase.

Heh I have a large dome and have faced the same problems in the past and recently, I had the ionos which was a good fit but it looked like a huge mushroom sitting on a melon too rounded for me. I recently bought the met sine thesis which has been my favourite so far.
I like the one you got in the end, looks the business

kask mojito and the lazer genesis/helium are a good non mushroom fit on my 61cm dome

the specialized helmets are the worst in size L, they look ridiculous
