Just belgium... there are a lot of different places in belgium. So where do you want to stay... we cant recommend you hotels and renting places if we have to go trough searching an entire country.

Mods, can you change the thread title? I only just looked at this because OP's title didn't attract my attention. ;)

I think CN forum user GreggGermer runs a place around Oudenaarde.

People here talk a lot about the classic cobbles of the Ronde, E3, Het Nieuwsblad, KBK etc, so I'll drop in a few words about how things are further east.

The roads criss-crossed by Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Flèche Wallonne are generally pretty quiet. They roll through a part of Belgium that's not particularly well-known to folks who don't do much outdoors.

I have hiked extensively in the region, so I know it pretty well and I would recommend that if you have the time and the means, the eastern Ardennes provide an exciting counterpoint to the perhaps more familiar bergs and spired towns of Flanders.

The deep clefts and woodlands of Wallonie are full of secrets and strangeness. One gets the feeling that the annual passage of the peloton in April is almost the only thing to disturb the silent greenery of areas like the Ourthe Valley.

bikeninja..the post about greggs cyclehaus may be a great way to go.Even if just for a bike..those Belgian photos are doctored w photoshop there is never that much sun!!just kidding. There are big bike shops in Lueven that have decent rentals. Dendermonde and Sint Nikklas are great places to ride and see a race or 2 and are close to Antwerp and Brussels. Huy and Namur are also nice and are close to the hwy so you can get to the east pretty quick. A plan B is to get a bike off of craigslist, box it and take it with you and remove your pedals when you are done and give it to your bro in law to sell and don't hassle w the repack for the trip home. Flying into Frankfurt and Brussels is normally cheaper..Make sure the rent a car has unlimited miles or lots more than you think and get a hatchback. There are a couple of cool velodromes from the old east block system. I did races in Erfurt, Jena and Gera(which is Olaf Ludwigs birthplace). I wanted to see Weimar and I was glad I did. Also there are a couple of cool casinos on the German/Czech border..You can eat really cheap and great food. I don't know Gregg germer but it may lead you in a good direction. If and when you drive east go as close to your fianl destination as you can..in summer if you hit a traffic jam(stau) you can be sitting there for hours..I mean hours..the easten roads are good but the relief off ramps are few and far between so you can sit there listening to some really bad radio for hours. Bring lots of Texas jersey's to trade to Belgains and Germans . I have a decent collection of both kinds and regret not getting more.eat the raw pork spread from a butcher shop..eat as much german cake as you can it's the best in the world..creamcake and cheesecake..sounds haevy buts it's the total opposite. Drink coffee and beer everywhere you go..they do it better than almost anybody
