Monday on the way from Milano to Austria i passed over Passo Mendola and decided to take a ride as the sun was out and it was warming up .

Onthe way down to Fondo i decide that this ws a fitting hill to pat tribute to Wouter . After completeing the ride down to Appian also i went to the Hotel Dolomiti and with Monika & Andrea's permissin installed a Book of Condolence in the bar . Whilst in the area i found many who had contributed to faceook and they added their signature and comments .

Cycling News readers will know many who use Mendola Pass as a training ground SO GET THE WORD OUT THERE !

To all as you remember Wouter , also think of those preparing for Paralympic 2012 in London and those who have served in "Harm's Way for their countries , some of whom will now be aspiring to future Paralympic Games .

Skippy,

No offense to you or anyone involved, but what exactly is your intent with Hill 108? What is the significance of Passo Mendola? Who are Monika & Andrea? And, most importantly, what would you like from us??

@bag_o_wallet thankyou for taking the time to comment ! So many others have looked and not done so !

Hill108Project can now be found by Google and the intent is to remind people of Wouter primarily but as those who visit the blog or this post spend time on the bike they no doubt think over a variety of issues as they enjoy the fresh air that cycling affords .

Whilst thinking and riding i would hope they have time to think about ways they can help others primarily "Physically Challenged/ Disabled /Adaptive Sport ". With the Paralympic in London next year , 3 weeks after the Olympic it is important to see that those athletes representing their country get all the Equipment and other facilities required to do an excellent job ! Many from Canada , your country , will tell you of the difficulties they have experienced in the past .

Attending London will be many who served their country in "Harm's Way" and now through life changing circumstances find themselves at the Paralympic rather than the Olympic Games . So many of these Heroes can be found through "WWPinc ,Help4Heroes or other Org.s .

Each day many ride Passo Mendola which is a magnet for those from Italy , Austria , Suisse & Deutschland , but others having seen it used on TV come from other countries as well . Living on the Nth American Continent you will no doubt prefer a location closer to home . Someone will Opt to set up that facility for those that desire the challenge .

As to Monika & Andrea , they are the owners of the Hotel Dolomiti whom i approached to hold the "Book of Condolence" on the bar premises . Whilst there Monday they caused several cyclists to add their signature and comment . Monday i hope will show the impact of this facility as the weekends are so much more busy than mondays when i saw more than 20 entries in the hour that i was there !

PEOPLE there are many questions that you may choose to ask but unless you put them here or on http://www.hill108project.blogspot.com they will not get an answer !

I still don't get it.

Was the Passo Mendolo of some significance to W.W.? Was he interested in the related issue of paralympic sport??

Had Bennotti checked my twitter or read my blog he would have found the following :

http://skippi-cyclist.blogspot.com/2011/02/mont-ventoux.html

People are taking the time to go to the Blog site I have created but as yet no help with Language translations which will help more people to understand what I am trying to create :

Visitors to the blog include those from Belgium 56 ,USA 30 , UK 21 , Italy 21 , Germany 13 , France 7 , Australia 6 , etc .

Those taking a look at this thread i hope will understand that I AM INTERESTED IN THIS PARTICULAR CYCLIST and this is because it is not only recent but i met the guy whilst he was with Quickstep . At some point someone will no doubt tell me if he rode the Passo Mendolo . Unlikely he stopped in the bar od the Hotel Dolomiti though .

When talking with him last year he was aware of who i am and what i try to achieve at the various tours i attend .

Many of the racers question my motives and resources and are aware of me through comments from their colleagues .

Hopefully i will not reach the point where "El Diablo" is , standing on the side of the route waving a pitch fork . Of course he gets "paid" for his performance , i on the other hand receive a variety of items that get used or passed on to "para athletes".

Google Skippydetour or Parrabuddy for an idea of the work i have done in this area and join me on twitter or the blogs for more .

dont do twitter facebook or anything like that.

Weylendt having a hill name after him? I doubt his family like the idea of a descent on which he died horribly being a memorial to him. Every stage 3 of the Giro it would seem will in some way honour 108 Weylendt.

I think that is enough.

i think you it would be best to get the goal, aims and vision for the project nailed down in english before you put it into other languages.

otherwise the effectiveness of your message will be lost in translation.

and i think you're still a fair way from having that done.

best of luck though, with what you're trying to achieve.

but like others, i'm not really sure what that is.

I worry that the goal is to bait and switch.

During the past weeks i have seen people take the time to visit the "hill108project.blogspot but still no help with the language translations !

Started a competition on http://www.tourdafrance.blogspot.com where you can help win "Para Athletes" some Cycling gear from "Continental" ! Take a look and sign on to do something more useful than teach other how to spell OR identify "personality traits" of those of whom that you are jealous !

Skip,

If it's about W.W., make it about W.W.

When I have asked questions about the connection between W.W. and Para-athletics, the answer back was that you had met him and he was aware of the cause you supported.

That's great, but it doesn't explain a connection between W.W. and para-athletics. From your answers, I don't get the feeling that this was a cause that he particularly involved with... I could easily be wrong, but it appears that YOU have signed HIS name to a cause that YOU are involved with.

If that's the case, it's a pretty disingenuous monument, and a shameless promotion of yourself and the cause you support.

I don't get the feeling that I'm alone in feeling this way.

No vitriol intended, Skip. I'm just telling you how I interpret things based on the info you've provided. I could easily be wrong in my interpretation. But, the way I see it is:

A memorial for W.W. = Good
Supporting Para-athletics = Good
Connecting the two = Questionable.

From what I've seen, you are a very big supporter of para-athletics and have been for a while. This is good.

However, when you link that cause with a W.W. memorial things become questionable. Because of that, I have asked questions. How are two causes linked? The only info you have provided is that you had met the man, and that you spoke to him about para-athletics. That doesn't communicate any real connection. Is there a connection? I don't know, but based on the information you have provided, it doesn't appear like there is one.

So, it comes off as if you have invented the connection to promote the para-athletic cause rather than really, and truly memorializing W.W.. If that is the case, I think it's a bad way to promote a good cause.

If you can show me how the two are linked, I'd gladly apologize.

the more people are able to steer you towards the obvious problems with your project, while it's in its infancy, the easier it will be for you to fix them.

you should be thanking people for highlighting these issues, not insulting them.
