Horrible accident in Italy - 8 cyclists dead.

A young moroccan driver crashed a Mercedes into a group of cyclists in St. Eufemia Lamezia Terme in Calabria, Italy, today, and killed eight of them.

Sad for the loss of those riders and the grief that their families will have to endure.

The driver was trying to pass someone in a no passing zone from the looks of the pics. The carabinieri will make him wish he'd laid off the weed and stayed in his lane I'm sure.

Shocking. A guy in the UK with bald tyres hit a bunch in the ice and killed 2, he got told off. I hope that the Italian justice system is more robust than this.

Racism is pretty rampant in South Italy (sadly), so I don't think you need to worry about his punishment. He'll get what's coming to him. And then some.

it is a worry as they treat like smoking a normal cigarette, hence this guy smoking it on a Sunday morning while driving. I see young people casually partaking in marijuana openly on the street regularly.

8 cyclists is unbelievably sad and by a banned driver, which means it should not have happened. a real kick in the teeth to what already must be devastating to the families.

Three of the fatalities were lawyers.

At the very least the driver of the Merc has made it more difficult for himself to lawyer up for the inevitable trial. Poetic justice, sort of. Hopefully he'll go away for a long time.

Now I don't want to go in a debate about smoking marihuana, but this is just not true. Weed is quite normal here, but driving while having smoked it, is seen as similar to driving while having been drinking.

yes what a tragedy blame the individual not the cannabis stupid people are stupid people sober or not. besides cannabis does not produce the i can kick *** and go fast delusion which alcohol is known for been around both plenty. also cannabis(thc) is residual in the system for weeks he may have been sober no real way to tell. either way typical a-hole person in a hurry who only cares for them selves. i have been struck by hit and run drivers luckily im not dead sadly 8 people are.
