How does the Search work?

I have been trying to find the News article about the Australian Road Champs not allowing foreign riders from 2012, and that Jeremy Hunt was the last foreigner to win it. I did a Search for 'Jeremy Hunt' and plenty of articles came up, but not in chronological order (newest first).
Am I not using it correctly?

if you go to the news tab, then use the search function in the left hand side, it does actually search the news archives.

I did a small search and I had a small verification question

"Did Lance Armstrong win any Tour de France?" (or something very similar)
