Wiggins obviously isn't winning the GC, but by how much will he beat JRod on that 1 day, now it's been extended to 47km?

theyoungest said:Let's see... his last long flat TT was in the Giro, 37 km. He lost 2'14" to David Millar in that (and less than a minute to Nibali, BTW). So if I extrapolate from there I get about 3 minutes, if we consider Millar and Wiggins to be somewhat equal in capacity.

icefire said:Wiggins will be behind JRod in the GC even after taking 5 minutes on him that day. So who cares?

Waterloo Sunrise said:It's a thread fundamentally about Jrod rather than Brad. I've just set a firm benchmark of the best 'gc' TTer in the race, rather than getting in to pointless discussions about who we're comparing him to.
hfer07 said:As much as Wiggo is going lose to J-Rod in the mountains....
but seriously, what makes folks here think Wiggo has got a serious shot at the Vuelta title this year?
Midnightfright said:I can honestly say I've not heard a single person say he will even podium. Please show a me a link to a poster saying that as I would like a chuckle. A fully fit prepared Brad wouldnt top 5 never mind a one coming of injury.

The Hitch said:Well if you read some of the articles during the TDF that concluded that since Uran stayed with the leaders on Plateau de Beille, Wiggins would have won the Tour, you might see why.
Though I would say that Wiggins would be capable in challenging this field. His problems are that hes coming back from injury and I dont believe he cares too much about the Vuelta.

Mambo95 said:Hey, it's a British website and British people are generally stupidly optimistic when it comes to sport - England at the World Cup being the prime example. (They also tend to denigrate those that actually do achieve).
And you Scots (assuming you're a Scot) aren't immune to this. I remember this pitiful episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcE86JmIN3E
