I could give it awy, maybe to a charity or maybe to one of you losers
I've really been into my racing for a while now but I figured where I live is too hilly and too main roady as well so I wasn't sure saving up for a bike was worth it. I've come into a bit of money though so I thought I'd ask what you lose.... awesome guys think about it :D Whats the best type of bike to go for considering I live in a place that looks like a city has puked over a village?

Cervelo S2 is freaking sweet. A buddy of mine rides one quite a bit.

You could get a Tarmac, or a 4 series Madonne also.

You have pretty much every mid-end road bike at your fingertips with 3 grand, for the most part. You can't get the best one, but you can get a really nice one for that price.

Get one of these. It will mellow you out a bit. Plus it will help you make friends a lot easier than your current approach.

Have you ridden before?

Don't spend all 3 grand on a bike, you can get a nice one for 500-750 and have plenty of money for kit. If you're still riding when winter comes along then you can think about getting a better bike.

Yep, agreed. If it was my money I'd get something like a Cannondale CAAD 10/Felt F5/Giant TCR Adv with 105 or Rival and spend the change on a proper fitting and any small upgrades/tweaks once I'm used to the bike.

Remember - good frame and proper sizing first and foremost. Everything else can come later.

Don't buy the beltdrive: p

2nd on don't buy the belt drive. I have raced and trained on a cad10 it's an amazing design. I have used 105 also and it works good.I also like Rival. No matter what bike you buy don't get super spoked wheels, 32' and 36's are from yesteryear. Don't buy anything w an adjustable stem. tell the place you are buying from that you want some cash consideration for the right stem size. Don't buy a bike w a triple or long cage rear if you are planning on racing.

I don't like saying it but..you can get some great deals from mail order places.
I have personally noticed that personal finance is very volatile for lots of people. A few guys I know have bought 5000 dollar bikes only to now be unemployed or underemployed, 2 guys I know have sold 4400-5000 bikes that were gently used for 6,8 months for 3000 just for the cash. Used is always an idea

Not true. I'd have to flip that around and say bikes off the showroom floor that come with that special race look of minimally spoked wheels end up coming to me for a custom "superspoke" set to replace them. ;)

When disk brakes finally become road standard those chincy, low spoke count wheel sets are going to be awefully funny lookin' :D

I will ride a 3x 32 open pro or Ambrosio with DT Revos all day and build it as light as any of them. areo schmero

I have all the fab wheels and spend most of my time on the 3x build.
