Down from a max of 400 to 320 this year, though.

A pity that their "flirt" with live coverage seems to have come to an end, too.

Yes there was an agreement of TV coverage and with the adjustment of one day less the race can survive, similar to volta catalunya.

I hate it that because of that stupid fvcked up verdict he can't ride one of the later ones.

Almeria might even be cancelled. Rumours are GP Miguel Indurain is in trouble as well.
If this goes on, barely any good Spanish races are left.

Yep, a real shame. Recently we've lost Alcobendas, Euskal Bizikleta and Volta Valenciana. Considering Aragon and Setmana Catalana went in 2005, leaves hardly any stage races left in Spain.

We lost Subida al Naranco, sort of, as well; it used to be a standalone event before the Vuelta a Asturias, now it's a stage of it. Circuito Montáñes is supposed to be back this year though, to redress the balance.

We lost Subida al Naranco, sort of, as well; it used to be a standalone event before the Vuelta a Asturias, now it's a stage of it. Circuito Montáñes is supposed to be back this year though, to redress the balance.

Cycling races in Spain are very linked to their regions and/or provinces for money i.e. government cash - as well as some money from business mostly found in the construction industry. With the crisis there's just no money for some of these smaller races. They may come back though...
