Only four trophees this year (last year was five) and just one for pure sprinters.

the scale for Migjorn is a bit misleading, that one could be a bunch sprint too.

CQ points bonanza time. Essentially a flexitime stage race, but where each stage offers up the same points as the TDF.
Down from a max of 400 to 320 this year, though.

A pity that their "flirt" with live coverage seems to have come to an end, too.

Is that list a joke I don't get?

You can check the teams and their respective line ups here.

Bit weird that Contador is riding... Valverde is too but apparently Juanjo Cobo has surpassed him as 'big name'.

What's weird about it?

Used to be 5 ..now 4
Murcia is now 3...
Castilla y Leon is now 3..

Almeria might even be cancelled. Rumours are GP Miguel Indurain is in trouble as well.
If this goes on, barely any good Spanish races are left.

Yep, a real shame. Recently we've lost Alcobendas, Euskal Bizikleta and Volta Valenciana. Considering Aragon and Setmana Catalana went in 2005, leaves hardly any stage races left in Spain.

and Also Subida Urkiola is gone and Circuito Montañes didn't run last year :(

We lost Subida al Naranco, sort of, as well; it used to be a standalone event before the Vuelta a Asturias, now it's a stage of it. Circuito Montáñes is supposed to be back this year though, to redress the balance.

Cycling races in Spain are very linked to their regions and/or provinces for money i.e. government cash - as well as some money from business mostly found in the construction industry. With the crisis there's just no money for some of these smaller races. They may come back though...
