I love cycling, and sport in general is good for your health, but is cycling healthier than sedentarism? The ominous possibility of getting run over by cars or lorries, treacherous descents, injuries and, if you take part in races, crashes, mass falls, having to train and race with respiratory infections...

From a purely health-oriented point of view, is cycling really healthier than sedentarism?

If you spend your life worrying about all the "possible" things that could go wrong.....you'd never leave the house, let alone get out for a bike ride.

If you're that concerned.....get a stationary bike and ride in your lounge / garage.......be careful though, who knows when that meteor is gonna come crashing through the ceiling and crush you!

Sedentarism does not necessarily equate with obesity (e.g. a person who does not eat much but does not exercise much and thus maintains a healthy weight).
