Is Fabian Cancellara past his prime?

its time boys.

after coming second in M-SR, second on the ronde and fifth in roubaix last year tommeke had the right to have a couple of this type of threads. the canc is no exception.

second in M-SR, the ronde and roubaix and now third at the worlds. also got beaten by martin in both the tour and the vuelta itt's.

the guy is clearly past it ;)

Done

Yes, he's done. Got crushed by Martin today in the TT. Now, hopefully, he will lose his voice as the "Leader" of the groupo. Still think he punked out when he neutralized the stage in the Tour when his "teammate" couldn't stay upright.

Alas, no sitting up when Contador crashed on the "slick" cobbles later in the race and Andy was chugging along at the front. Hypocrit to say the least.

Who is the new "Boss" for you?

Gilbert, Evans, Contador, Tony Martin?

Not yet but the dominant Fab is maybe gone .

Just one race concludes that or did I miss something?

Explanation could also be his focus is more on the Road Race or something, don't know it's true but I think this is a very quick conclusion.

Once supremacy is gne, it's gone forever.
He will have somemore decent yearsas a above average rider. But his prime days are over, he won't dominate anymore. Not inn TT not in the classics.

I'm going to enjoy bumping this next april

I think he just sunk too deeply into "anything but winning" atmosphere at Leopard and he might have been overwhelmed by the amazing season he had in 2010. He'll have plenty of chances for big wins, whatever he wants to focus on.
I hope his situation with the team won't affect his next season, even if he brought it upon himself.

Would be even more hilarious if he won on Sunday.

No way is he over. He's got new impetus now with something to prove. :)

Poor Fabs has had a lot on his mind lately...not even possible for Spartacus to focus when you're wading through the current team doodoo.

Also, I think it would be a bit of a disservice to Tony Martin to simply say Spartacus is "past it" or something. He has definitely stepped up his "game" this season.

No reason to think he's past it, he's not exactly knocking on heaven's door. There's every chance he'll bag a few more major TT wins and one day races before he hangs up his bike.
His best ever season may be history but that doesn't mean he is.
