Is RAI still an Italian broadcaster?

My shout of the day...

Fed up with this Americanized Rai. It's just like Sporza.

For Italian races, I want to have info such as 'Testa della corsa', 'inseguitori' or 'salita' instead of 'head of the race', 'chase group' or 'climb'. I don't even speak the Italian language but respect it.

This is just submission ... Just like AC/DC at the end of the Worlds. If I were Italian I'd feel like a foreigner in my own country.

... and Rodriguez should be interviewed in Italian (then translated) or else in his mother tongue.

... and most of all the Tour of Lombardy is a classic and not a stage of a stage race, right?

This whole thing started during the Giro and the likes of De Stefano kept saying how this would help italian fans learning english and being more international

But interviews are in italian for the italian viewers so I'm guessing the interviews you're talking about were for the foreign channels.

Before the ES stream came up, I was watching a stream with Italian commentary (and the little of it I understood focussed almost entirely on Italian riders) which had Italian on screen graphics. See also screendumps on the main race thread such as this:

It seems unfair to criticise them for making English language graphics available on a feed for English language channels.

for the italian feed graphics are still in italian, it is the international feed that uses english.
Also interviews are in italian unless a rider doesn't speak it.

They broadcast so many races that i think we should be glad for the service they provide overall.

all in French afaik

So let me recap, someone is complaining cause italian's broadcaster isnt showing the graphics in english while for example the biggest cycling event do exactly the same...?

Anyway don't worry, it seems that from next year there will be a lot less italian races on Rai so no more worries about graphics!

No, OP is complaining since he wants the information to be in Italian.

I guess you're referring to me as I was the one naming the french race.

Forgive me for the mistake and let's change the example; does Tour of Austria use english graphics in their tv feeds?

no, they are in german

but there is no international coverage for that race anyway, only within Austria, so it's a bit different

You're right, same for Vuelta?

I would have never expected to find myself defending RAI but it's been pointed out from a scottish friend based in Spain that RAI is actually doing a lot more than spanish or uk tv (yeah I know last one doesnt count).
And anyway as I said from next year it seems there's gonna be much less cycling from RAI so the graphic problem is gonna be solved!
