cdb contacts recover

1) You can open the .cdb file in a test editor (i.e. right click and choose open as, then wordpad for example) and you will be able to view the contents. You will be able to see text of contact's name's and phone numbers etc. however it will be difficult to read because there will also be a lot of garbage characters in there.

2) You can download the relevant SDK for the 9500 onto your PC. Once installed you can run an emulator that simulates your phone. You can search for the default .cdb, delete it and replace it with yours. THen you will be able to view the contacts in the emulator. If you've never done it before it'll take a while to find out what to do

or
Use symbian emulator and replace contacts.cdb with your own one
but you are not able to convert to excel

Once you have created a text file from your cdb file as previously advised
follow the following steps

From Microsoft Excel, create a blank spreadsheet, and from the Tools menu, select "Get External data | Import text file". Select your text file, make sure you have the right delimiter (e.g. comma not tab), then import the text. All of your data should be viewable. Save the file in Excel format (e.g. mydata.xls), then copy this new file over to the Pocket PC. You should be able to read the data with Pocket Excel.
