If he gets to be the leader at the Volta a Catalunya, and then the Giro, plus maybe the Vuelta and some other races (like Lombardy) I don't see what the problem is. Yes, he'd easily make the Tour team if it was still only Leopard, but he'd have to work for the Schlecks anyway. What would you rather do, slave at the Tour or lead at the Giro?

The same reason Porte didn't stay.

Riis likes to shortchange promising riders.

what do you mean? ^ or be more specific b/c whiel its plausibel I never heard that before.

otherwise like most here it's a problem of his own creation.

Both Fuglsang and Porte were unhappy with the contracts offered after very promising first seasons.

My understanding that it least with Porte offers from other teams were a lot higher than than the offer from Riis.

Right. And that will get him... where?

They want to be a pro continental team in 2013 :D Let's see, I don't think he'll go there - but he's more than welcome according to Hembo.

Jakob Fuglsang and Michael Rasmussen used to be good friends training together in Italy I believe. They are both former mountain bike riders. I remember a story about Jakob recieving a warning for training with a known doper, but I must admit I don't quite remember the details.

Jakob said himself that he needed a couple of more years before turning cap in a gt race. He felt comfortable helping his two friends in Frank and Andy in that time being. The Vuelta demonstrated that aswell tbf.

The leadership in any race he enters, provided the Chicken is willing to share.;)
Just not very many, if any big races.:(

But hadn't he been promised the lead role for the Giro this year only for Bruyneel to mention the possibility of sending Frank to it a few days ago?

I bet he just found out Fränk is the leader at the Giro and wants to take his bat and ball and go home.

No surprise here, what would your morale be like if you saw yourself knocked down the pecking order by a 40 year old:(

I only foresee two scenarios:

1-)He ends up in a Pro-Conti team
2-)He pops + for "betraying" the team

Is it possible for people to jump ship at this point and join another team for this season?
