Look, if you are a DS, you have a wet downhill with a fight for position, and you order Jay Vine to do anything other than be the very last wheel in the peloton, you're just not up for the job.

It was Soler that crash and took the rest down. Not Vine

Doesn't matter who went down first.

You don't put yourself in a positiong where the whole team maximizes risk in a place it's not needed. Sure if you want Yates to be near the front, use 1 domestique to get him there, not the most crash prone riders in the bunch.

If I am jayco, I am making a big play for Vine. A change of scenery, a guaranteed TDF place and more importantly he would always ride at the back of the peleton, until needed in the front.

Jayco will be lucky to have funding past 2027, and Vine has a 2028 contract iirc?

If Vine has ambition he moves teams because he is never going to ride the TDF at UAE, despite gaving the level for the race. Jayco is fine for funding until the end of this 3 year UCI points round.
