Jens Voigt.....is ridiculous

So Sky, Wiggins, Froome etc....are ridiculous to say the least....but how come Jens Voigt 'hero to all' isnt being vilified for his performances at this Tour. I find his riding more ridiculous than Froomes.

At least he isn't an ah0le. But yes, to think he isn't on something, would be a bit ridiculous.

he sort of does by talking about attacking riders and making them hurt, and the weather, and throwing other stuff in their faces.

but everyone loves jens

Eh?.......

That is, I don't think he is writing columns on how he wouldn't dope and there are no sycophantic journalists ready to proclaim his cleanliness to the masses.

It's because Jens doesn't win.

He didn't win anything  ... Yes, he is probably on something, but I don't think cycling would gain the most by busting a guy that works his a$$ off almost every day to provide us with entertainment, without getting his hands on any wins. It's not like he dropped Voeckler and Lulu or something like that....

I won't say that Voigt is clean, but the reasons why he isn't vilified in The Clinic include a long history of these performances (unlike Froome), and being 1 hr 11 mins down on GC (unlike Froome). Plus, there's the cool factor. One guy speaks from the heart, rides all day at the front in crap weather, and cracks asphalt with his face at 85 km/h. The other guy lets his girlfriend do the tweeting, rides 2nd from the rear in the Sky train, and has a face like Skeletor.

I think this smacks more of a pro sky thread than anything else.
However if it is serious.....how can anyone talk abouts Jens on the same stage Tommy V performs like superman AGAIN this race when first week he struggled to turn a pedal?

and your point is ?

You said that finishing ahead of Dan Martin makes him ridiculous. I thought you were not ironic and I wanted to point out that Martin is not in shape this year so finishing ahead of him is not ridiculous.

If it was meant as a joke, then whatever, ignore what I said.

Dan Martin was just an example - does Jens Voigt spring to mind when you think of the top ten finishers of todays stage ???

Well of course he does - he was one of the top 10.

What did Dan Martin do this season?

5th at LBL and 6th at FW. Rubbish in the Tour, but they're decent results.

Exactly.

Stop whinging and he has only himself to blame for being in this situation with the handbrake and shackles on. He did'nt have to sign a 3 year deal with Sky after the Vuelta when his contract was running down.

I think this is unfair. He is surrounded by journalists after every stage all hitting him with the same question over and over and over. At some point over 3 weeks and hundreds of interviews he will give a quote that is not perfect.

He also finished that particular quote with 'we have a strategy around wiggins and everybody respects that'

Yes.
It was pretty obvious that a break of non threatening GC riders was going to rule the stage. When 30+ riders escape up the road, yes, i would expect Voigt to be in it.
As for DanM, he tried to shred the race a little too early. In fact, the top 10 today is a good lesson to Dan about riding with your head as much as your legs. "Age and treachery" comes to mind.

He finished in the top 6 today - with acclaimed climbers over the Pyrenees - ahead of Dan Martin - RIDICULOUS

Voight have worked VERy hard and well, and on so MANY stages/races, and placed decently so often, that I guess most of us are used to it.

Besides he is a class act ;)
