I guess a fair few of us remember where we were when we heard John had been shot. I was just seting off to ride 30 miles to work ( that was my daily commute). Had tears in my eyes most of the way.

Funny that, a colleague just asked me to confirm this anniversary and he was shocked that I didn't know either way. I think he thought that every British citizen should know and cherish it sadly. :p

I was too young then anyway, but I remember visiting the spot just over a decade ago when I happened to be in New York. I also remember more recently being absolutely amazed to see Chapman on Larry King Live or whatever it was. Bonkers that a convicted murderer could get primetime airtime like that.

I remember when there was this band that used to practice in the back shed they made an awfull noise . then they made a record and Harrold Willson the British PM baned it because it was too sugestive for the time.

Then everyone wanted a copy and it made the top of the charts and then they realy started.

That is what I remember so now you know how old I am.
The Mersey sound had started .

Actually I do feel quite young. It's just that somehow that nasty number that pretends to be my age seems to have absolutely no relationship to me at all.....

Susan

PS: Currently reading Keith Richards' autobiography. Very interesting!

I was a teenager, so I probably should remember it. I realise now I was way too young to understand the extraordinariness of the 1960s and the 1970s.

This is pretty cool too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-NRriHlLUk&feature=related

You were nothing. We're quite okay about it.

Yeah, for me that feeling started when I was 34 and has continued to surprise me, increasingly, ever since. :D

What does he say about Parsons' influence on Wild Horses?

I'm not far from thinking Gram actually wrote the song. It's a masterpiece and I've always thought it was too good for the Stones.

After work, at home watching news. We didn't have the internet in those days. Plus, many of my coworkers and I rode a bus with no radio to and from work. So any news, significant or otherwise, we did not hear about until after arriving home. I remember thinking, what a waste and what moron did this. Sad.
