How the hell the Rolf only manage to win one Giro stage? I thought he rode the Giro a lot, especially early on in his career on Italians teams, and he was a great rider on transition stages.

I must say, I'm very impressed that you can remember how a bunch of drunk guys behaved two years ago, so you can compare to how they're behaving this year.
It was quite appararant when he went to the Giro in 2024. Very surprised how anyone could miss that

Also, mou actually has a good point: Look how the tifosi received Pogacar and compare that to Jonas. There's a reason for that, and one of those reasons we saw today.
For the most part Pogi and Vingo's fans behave in ways that reflect each one's public persona. Pogi is the frat boy captain of the football team while Vingo is the skinny quiet kid who did everyone's homework for them, but they teased him anyway.

Since when do you have to be drunk to be a cycling fan? You can also go watch this year's edition of Strade Bianche if you're having trouble remembering cycling races from 1-2 ago. I don't if I enjoy the races and put time into them.

Contador has 0 stage wins (officially). This is even more crazy.

Why drunk? I was in Oropa two years ago and was sober as *** (as a "warm up" I was trekking in nearby mountains, not drinking). And you know what? Italian people that were close to me on the roadside weren't drunk either (my nose is super sensitive so I would've easily smelled it). And yes, they were enthusiastic towards Pogacar (but also towards other riders).

Pretty sure road-side spectators are generally drunk. Gotta drown the sorrows for having fallen for the scam that watching by the road-side is somehow a good way to watch a race.

I enjoy races when they happen I'm not gonna be wasting time remembering stuff afterwards.
In fact, if I do remember spectator-behaviour, it's usually because they were just incredibly idiotic.
Or, rarer, incredibly sensible.

Sure, but he was a bit undercooked in 2008 and had a hard time dealing with Aru and Landa in 2015. Still the best rider in both races. But in my mind Contador has 3 stages from 2011
He won 2 in 2011. It would be 4 if he didn't deliver the win to Rujano and Tiralongo.

Vingo kissing his stem like a dork does not do him any good amongst the fans, but I must say that from a purely racing perspective he did great. Doing anything else is just not smart racing. And it is really up to the others to do something that puts him under pressure. One strategy might be Visma always need to be at the front of the peloton. That means that if Hindly gets in the break, Decathlon does not chase under any circumstances. Of course, for that to work, the semi-good guys need to start risking something and attacking early.

Vingegaard does not give a ***, unlike all those betas who act like they dont give a *** to fit in with everyone else.

i wouldnt put it like that , i think he changed his helmet because of the comments he received about it

but when he believes in the strategy of the team he sticks to it and obviously couldnt give a rats arse about what his rivals think of it

hes no scrub , hes playing to win

Vingegaard is lucky that Almeida had to skip the Giro and that there isn't a long flat TT in the Tour route this year

I am not too surprised he didn't do much better, but I had expected he could beat a washed up De la Cruz (although he did ride well the other day, so maybe he just isn't as washed as I thought).

He probably focused on mountains and didn't prepare for this Giro TT a lot + flat TTs seems to be his weaker point nowadays.

Could also be that he's not done enough to avoid detraining. I've been told Pogačar is a master when it comes to staying in shape when you're much better than anyone else.

He simply doesn't care about the TT, because all is in function of being in top climbing shape for a Tour short on tting

Today's performance won't matter at the Tour indeed. But it seems he was really suffering at the end. The Giro is not that easy (maybe it'll be easier from now on, he has control in the GC now).
