There's a similar bike from Giant available - I suspect many of the major manufacturers have them.

If you're in the UK, a number of posters on the Guardian Bike Blog said nice things about Islabikes, who have a couple of junior road models.

Specialized makes a junior version of the Allez.

Be sure to invest some time and maybe money into having the bike appropriately fit for him. As he gorws, it will be important to reassess the fit, probably once every six months.

If he rides with bad mechanics due to an improper fir, the incidence of Osgood Schlatter's pathology is greatly increased. Google it.

I have a Trek KDR1000 that has been passed down from my son to my daughter, possibly going to be passed along again before finding a home elsewhere. Nice bike for young ones to learn on - personally, it seems they are interested in something that looks like what the parents are riding and, as a parent, I am looking for something that stays adjusted well and is not difficult to brake or shift.
