My favorite classic. As long as someone besides the current WC wins I will be content.

Who's going to win then?

Cav or Goss ftw. Would Thor be a possibility? Although I suspect he won't be in peak form as he will be looking ahead to Paris-Roubaix...?
72 days is only a little over 2 months...don't know if that makes the wait sound any shorter?!

Can't see it... I can't help remembering that awesome effort Scarponi put in last year, and then the missus said 'Is he on drugs?' and I said, probably.. Already just thinking of an Italian and I'm casting doubts of the integrity of the winner. An Italian won't win though, of that I'm certain.

Just imagine Scarponi, Nibali and Greg attacking in poggio... but doing a devastating attack... I could see Michele taking La Primavera for him :p

If Gilbert and Scarponi (and maybe Nibali) want it like last year they could make Cipressa and Poggio really hard.

My favorite.

Attacking on the Cipressa would be the most dumb thing to do though you probably mean their teams drilling it on the Cipressa and then keeping it high till they reach the end of the Poggio and then attack attack attack. Would be sweet to see an entente between Lampre, Liquigas and BMC.

I want to see Gilbert annihilate everyone on the Poggio ( especially Cav ) get caught on the descent and then Thor to win the sprint. Teamwork.

Davis/Goss, EBH/ Sagan to round out the podium. An Italian ( Modolo or Pettachi to take 4th ) and Greipel 5th.

To be honest, I finally want a Belgian to win this classic, it's been too long.

I don't see Tchmil's victory as Belgian.

Love to see Ballan take it. If a small group drills it over the Poggio they'll stay away. Last year's race was fantastic.

as every years in italy, there are rumours that they want to add another climb between cipressa and poggio or just before cipressa, to harden the race and make more difficult a mass sprint finish.
this year the rumors are about bastera climb, close to imperia or dolcedo.
the problem is the distance, because that will make the road longer ( last year it was already 298km..). an option is to move the start.

another important issue is where will put the finish in sanremo, because with via roma there are many problems for traffic and because lungomare calvino is not available because of road works. if they move the finish in corso cavallotti, like it was many years ago, that will be a good thing for punchers attacking on the poggio, because it will be really close to the end of the downhill and there will be less space for the team the organize a hunt for the escapee and prepare the sprint.

it look like the road will not be changed even if adding a climb will make the race much more exciting, cutting away people like cav chances and favourishing attackers.
on the other hand, moving the finish to corso cavallotti closer to the poggio is a serious option.

He is too good of a descender for that but he might get caught on the flat though. Gilbert actually stated that he wondered how he could win because he has tried everything already. (Attacking from the bottom of the climb, attacking in the middle, attacking in the end of the climb.)

He had the right formula last year, just lost out in the sprint.

There's 93 days to the Primavera...

As if 72 days wasn't bad enough you just had to add 11 more days!
