Yes but I like to think I stay within reason when I discuss Gesink. I never complain and make excuses for him.
For sure I always support him, and discuss his achievements; but I don't make silly statements, and complain that others don't give him credit.

If you had been posting DURING the race, you would see that you don't know what you are talking about. You guys are as bad as Armstrong fanboys.

I'm talking post race. Hardly a mention. I am certainly not a FANBOY, nancy boy.

You don't respect him and I certainly don't respect anything you say about him. The comment about credit was for the season in general not just this race.

Thanks for proving my point.

Ditto... fanboy... that is someone who supports when things are going well and quickly jumps ships when they aren't. Little do you know. 3200+ posts, that's alot of opinion, you get it wrong sometimes.

Yes you do support him and very well;

My silly statements? My comments about Cadel are fact, i accept he isn't everyones favourite and i do take comments to heart sometimes; but my support has never waivered.

No Excuses, oh like he hurt his knee... oh Cadel sat on his wheel or he would have won on Ventoux in P-N... i won't go on.

My silly comments wasn't really aimed at you, but sometimes CE fans on a whole void reason.

how are they excuses?
I said it was unfortunate he had to get 8 stitches in his knees. ANd it was a pity... MY evans wheel comment was more to as why i dislike evans, not a thing to do with gesink mate ;) Not a fan of evans, never have been. I make no excuses for gesinks inablity and inexpierence at the time to lose to evans.

all we ever hear evans fans is complain and say how unlucky evans is. it gets old.

Cadel has proved over the past week that when the situation arises he will as hard for somebody on his team as he expects those same riders to work for him. 2 of Phil's win were without doubt created by the hard work of his team in particular Cadel.

Cadel is a great guy and if the rest of the world put the effort into life that he does (not just cycling); it would be an unbelievable place to live.

+1 for hard work comment

I hope, that S/L realise this and support him 100% for the grand tours he chooses to race - that includes you jurgen van den breakaway. This is the perfect month for S/L. They proved to themselves that the team is more important than the individual, and that teamwork pays off, big time!!

+1 for the great guy comment

This guy actually has a heart, and the media plays him out to be a cry baby, sure he complains a bit, but he races with his heart on his sleeve, and then gets punished for it. He really is a good bloke outside of cycling, and i've heard this from many people from his summer town of barwon heads. Hands down, one of the nicest guys they've ever met, and the media does not do his good nature any justice

I think the over-the-top biased attitude some of the australians have towards CE only makes people dislike CE that much more . Some might give him too little credit, but don't worry you guys give give so much more then he deserves that it all evens out.

i tend to agree.. i was pleased to at least see cadel on the front today.. maybe the rainbow bands have given him a kick up the ****... i just dont understand why the guy always looks so miserable..

the old saying, it takes less muscles to smile than frown is true..

interesting race, and i enjoyed it but the last few K was a bit of a letdown.. i do get rather frustrated with the italians refusal to give us mileage on the screen, time gaps, and roadside signs with the 5,4,3,2,1k banners on that you need 20/20 vision to see..

great to see vino giving it ago.. not sure about this hooverland guy.. something seems a bit weird about him.. very dissapointed with lampre, strong early on then it all seemed to go south.. and was basso even there...

Agreed, and Gilbert couldn't have won without all 8 teammates, not just one.

Dim, did you not see huge smile Cadel had on his face when he got to Gilbert on the finish line?

I don't think most people realise how shy Cadel actually is. And to behonest most of the time it is quite obvious he does not want to speak to the media.

Everyone seems to get mentioned for their great effort in the race without much mention at all for work Cadel did in the last 15km's to put Phil in the position to win. He attacked hard and caused a major split then instead of joining the rest of the "wheelsuckers" he stayed on the front and kept the pace high enough to pull back Vino etc and then held the pace up the climb to prevent others going... until Phil launched before the top. He then was able to hang in there to finish tenth with the "ws".

Cadel has proved over the past week that when the situation arises he will as hard for somebody on his team as he expects those same riders to work for him. 2 of Phil's win were without doubt created by the hard work of his team in particular Cadel.

After his ITT today Cadel will be able to enjoy the rewards that he has worked so hard to earn over the past 8 years as a pro cyclist. SIL may have salvaged some pride for the season with a unbelievable last month but it should never be forgotten, the performance of a terrible team management for the first 9 months and the meddling Coucke sticking his nose where it shouldn't have been causing some ongoing rifts. Coucke, let the DS do their job and you stick to your promises.

Cadel is a great guy and if the rest of the world put the effort into life that he does (not just cycling); it would be an unbelievable place to live.

Come get me trolls!!!!

+1 agreed....cadel for prime minister....

missed it.. its still on the sky box so may revisit.. although the idea of cadel winning, crying, AND smiling in the same year is possibly too much for me.. :D

before we know it he will be giving an interesting interview, and the bbc will give him overseas sports personality of the year, that would be just about the most ridiculous award since damon hill won it..

nah.. bless im.. he did work hard at the front.. was nice to see the front of his jersey instead of him sitting on someones wheel.. if he can keep that sort of attitude up for a year i may even change me opinion of him and like him.. ;)

You and dekker tifosi need to get a room. the way you guys suck up to gesink is sickening. i thought you as an australian would appreciate a little more for the amount he has done for australian cycling and the feats he has risen to. You may think that we "fanboys" go on about his bad luck but over the years he has been close but hadn't had the support or luck needed to win the tdf or the vuelta or the giro.... i could go on:rolleyes:.

Evans was superb today and hopefully lotto give back some of the great support evans has given gilbert and the publicity from the victories he has got over the years that they will give him all the support required.

Silence have a lot of good riders who could win a lot but their seems to be a lack of direction, focus and working for each other. They are finally getting it right... well hopefully. Lotto's season has been salvaged big time by evans and gilbert. Imagine what S/L be like without those two.

.

you can't possibly say that our support for a rider is sickening, You of all people.. that is hilarious.

Our support is at least rational. We might be proud of the guy. but like I said we don't go on about him and demand people give him respect. When he won emila the other day I said good ride once in the thread and that was it, I didn't linger on, I didn't even mention his 6th place at lombardia in this thread, I was actually more happy for hoogerland and could recognise how well Gilbert has been riding, at that he fully deserves the win. But Even when Evans fails, you guys act like he was the best cyclist on the day. get real bud. I understand you have a man crash on the guy, but you gotta learn be more rational kiddo.

Aussiecyclefan, I don't think that Dekker-Tifosi and Timmy deserved to be singled out for their comments. Many people have said similar things about Cadel fans and Cadel through out the year/s.

Take a deep breath....and let it go.

I don't think I ever rant on about gesink as you do with evans. It's tasteless. Actually I think I do more posting againt evans then I do about gesink. If anything you could call me a cadel hater

They are the same or as Mountain Goat or powderpuff or me but it seems a bit of the case "pot calling the kettle black" by timmy loves rabo acusing powderpuff of being biased when he is himself. I've taken a deep breatt and i'm calm so don't worry;)

Aussie, you know I am a Cadel fan, and I have taken a verbal beating on the odd occasion for my troubles. But honestly of late, the bias towards Cadel has become almost unbearable even for me.

usually he gets canned on these forums for not attacking, being a winger, making excuses, etc. i thought their needed to be some balance.

No offence taken at all...

On these forums you can make a comment about a particular incident and depending on the rider it can be viewed as whinging but made about another rider it will be viewed differently.

That's the way these forums work, they would be a pretty boring place if we all had the same views. I enjoy the obscure and sometimes perverse (is that a word?) opinions; do I let them get me down, no way; just like the comments about Gesink from the learned folk out there don't worry you either.;)
