Lesser known races 2024 edition

Hirschi is good, by far the best in this race, but given there's a cross headwind here and that there is still a big group behind him this seems like a suicide effort.

A whole ass peloton is like 25 seconds behind him, he should've went slower on the hill and tried to get a few riders with him.

EDIT: alright I might be underestimating him or overestimating the willingness to work together in the group behind.

Maybe Tudor want him to get lots of UCI points at minor races for moving up to WT status?

Hirschi did not sign for Tudor to do the exact same thing there as he's been doing at UAE. He will obviously be riding more big races. He would be in Canada right now (and get 500 points combined there too btw) if he was at Tudor.

Half of his points this year are coming from WT anyways.

Fair point on riding bigger races and Tudor having Alaphilippe too might help in getting a Tour wild card spot. 2025 will be a real fight for teams to stay as WT so I expect some unusual team tactics.

Saturday 14th September and the Hirschi Victory Tour continues with the 21 st Memorial Marco Pantani (1.1) 195.4 km from Cesena to Cesenatico, start at 11.20 CET, apparently TV is limited to "RAI Sport schedule shows an hour of recorded late in the evening."

(Hirschi lost to Lutsenko last year and as Astana are not even riding here, I think we can guess who is the favourite)

Same finish as last year with 4 laps each 5 km long in Cesenatico.
