well the report says he is sick.

Why is this in the clinic? are we to assume he is sick because of a dodgy transfusion? In fact, why is there even a thread on this. Could it just be posted in the race thread that Levi pulled out ill.

No, anyone who has raced with Lance knows how to do transfusions perfectly, could never get that wrong. Lance's mole told him Levi was going to be tested at the end of the stage, so he rung Levi and Levi decided he better pretend to be sick just to be safe. No reason to take a risk for such a small race. Only that great GT the Tour of California is worth taking such a risk for.

Personally I think it's more interesting that Rogers didn't start yesterday at the Critérium. Right? Right?

Rogers is an Aussie, they never dope, all completely pure of heart and soul.

I read he was in the hospital overnight with stomach problems. Cyclists are human beings, who fly a lot, put in tremendously hard efforts day after day in a variety of weather, are exposed to a lot of people with various germs, etc. Some times they get sick, just like humans.

Levi has had some serious intestinal issues earlier this year. He was in the hospital for a while and missed a training camp. Supposedly lost a lot of blood.

Did the Uniballer flush it down the toilet again?

Lots of people suffering from the PDM's this year. Still, they'll no doubt have got their mixes right by July.

Could it be to much upper body from carrying in the feed for the chihuahua and feral cat herds, out on the ranch?

Finally @TeamRadioShack comment which glosses over the overnight stay in hospital !
Team result was the redeeming feature of the tour .

The team suit is also like Leopard Team , lacking in the advertising that Simoni's billboard effort carries AND then there is no mention that i can see of his Trentino bike shop .

Perhaps it's because his blood values are through the roof again just like in the 2005 Tour when it was recommended he was pulled from the race?

I have stomache-ache once in a while, sure, but I don't remember being in the hospital for it.

yeah but you probably didn't take some dodgy steroid that gave you stomach ache. Cav in his interview mentioned vomiting during the Gent-Wevelgem and others having dodgy stomachs. so it may be something new on the scene that the riders are 'guinea pigging'....

From another site...

Leipheimer Misses A Victory?
Speaking of results being nullified after the event - finishing second to Contador at the moment could translate to a win down the road so it was a surprise to see second on GC at the Volta a Catalunya going into the last stage, Levi Leipheimer (RadioShack) not starting the final stage. Unfortunately for Levi he had to withdraw from the race after apparently being rushed to hospital on Saturday night suffering severe stomach pain. Subsequently Michele Scarponi (Lampre) moved up into 2nd and young Dan Martin (Garmin-Cervélo) into 3rd.

Team RadioShack released the following statement on Levi's illness and his subsequent unfortunate withdrawal from the race;

Levi Leipheimer had to abandon the final stage of the Vuelta a Catalunya due to an abdominal sub-obstruction. This is an issue Leipheimer has dealt with for a long time, dating back to his childhood when he was kicked in the stomach by a horse. At that time the injury caused intestinal damage and Levi had to undergo abdominal surgery. This surgery caused adhesions and scar tissue. These adhesions reduced intestinal motility and at one point caused a life-threatening intestinal obstruction during the time Levi raced for team Rabobank. When intestinal motility is blocked, first a person gets severe abdominal pain. When the obstruction persists, intestinal fluids can get into the abdominal cavity and cause a lethal sepsis. Saturday night Levi had a semi-obstruction. He had a lot of pain and was transferred to the hospital where he stayed overnight for observation. Fortunately the sub-obstruction didn’t turn into an obstruction and he was able to leave the hospital this morning.

Does this mean Levi is full of cr@p???

which is exactly the point I was trying to make.
