Actually, I spent some seat time a couple of weeks ago in the NorthWest. It handles great, but the aerodynamics are brick like.
I didnt buy it because its particularly fast, handles great, or that it was comfortable to drive.
Its an icon.

Cool car, I bet some restraining of its power is a must, because I'm sure we've all seen the video's where it goes all wrong (due to the driver).

its new to me but from 1987.
the problem with driving the car is it attracts a lot of attention and people tend to sit in the 5 and 7 position to take pictures and admire. The visibility out the side and back is impossible so lane changes are very tricky. The horsepower was goo for the day but by todays standards, you will get in more trouble with a Mercedes.

I know it isn't one of those "iconic" cars.. but it's the most useful and beautiful piece of engineering out there. Perfect car.

faster than most ferraris (straight line)
as confortable as a rolls or bentley

fun to drive (never tested, but informed).

At one point I was shopping for a new car and signed up for most vendors mail lists and what not, submitted reviews of dealers I visited, etc. Well they started to invite me to test drive cars here and there and then Merc did the same, I had no intent of buying but still filed out the lengthy questionnaire. They ended up inviting me to test some of their sportier cars, humm... hell yea I went. Well I test drove the SL's, SLK's and yes an AMG, that was one super fun test ride afternoon. (I played the part of a Merc buyer the whole time, even though I had nowhere near that kind of cash).
