So both Wellens and Kron are still not fit. It's now confirmed that they won't be riding Canada. 4 out of their 10 point scorers are not fit right now. That's basically the end of it. As expected, they will be a 1000 points behind after the upcoming weekend and it's impossible to close that gap, even if you win every sprint race in the last few weeks of the season.

Honestly with the team they have next year it wouldn't be that bad to not be WT. Like I've mentioned before having to ride all those hard WT races might bite them in the ass. A talent like Van Eetvelt needs to race a mix of smaller races and a few WT races, not just a season full of hard WT races. 3 years in the shadow (don't see sponsors leaving as long as they have De Lie) and hoping De Lie and maybe 1 or 2 other guys really blow up. I just hope that they realize fast enough (end of September) that they're not going to make it and shift to next season. Really not worth going to Langkawi for points if it doesn't matter anymore. Tour Down Under isn't that far away.

Wellens has heart related problems after his covid (in training and when resting) and went to see a specialist, he rested more then the specialist , he buils up for 6 races :
Coppa Agostoni, Emilia, Coppa Bernocchi , Tre Valli Varesine , Lombardia and Japan Cup

They didi'nt lose their spot this year but in 2020 they almost didn't score any points... and 2021 was hardly better

Liam Slock? Van de Paar?

LOL, so fking predicatble. So after Slock they now announced Van de Paar. Van de Paar just saved his career by becoming Belgian Champion u23 in his last u23 year but I don't think he's that good at all. 2 riders that should be riding for Topsport Vlaanderen and not Lotto imo. Atleast Van de Paar is a sprinter, so he can maybe get some good result is smaller Belgian races in the future.

The worst thing about this is that not only their 2023 team is almost full, their 2024 team will also at the end of this year. There will probably be room for like 3 transfers next summer. So either your youngsters completely blow up like De Lie or you already have 2 *** years.

On the other hand it is admirable that around 50% of their 2023 team consists of riders that came out of their own Devo Team.

Predictable, as predicted.
They really want to replicate Alpecin+MvdP, in their case with De Lie. They will increasingly miss out on WT potential talents. If De Lie leaves, if De Lie gets injured... Game over.

signings of Paasschens and Livyns confirmed

Especially glad Livyns gets his chance in a team that mostly riders world tour races (was going to say a world tour team but oh well :p).

Late bloomer who rode a really good first pro year in 2020 with Wallonie where he rode the (pre) final of both KBK and Omloop and in RVV (that MVP won in a sprint against WVA) he actually rode 3rd hardest on all the climbs.
Has been struggling with his bike the entire year resulting in several mecanicals (disk brake jamming on a several occassions) but really a punchy guy that can ride finals in smaller classic races.

I don't think they have choice tbh. From what I've heard they did try to get some expensive guys earlier on the season and they did approach talented climbers, they just didn't go for it (probably also because of the possible WT relegation). The timing of Gilberts expensive 3 year contract has been horrible. It ends just when a WT cycle end meaning they have finally some money freed up but they can't convince anyone (who's actually really good) to sign for them because you won't have that guaranteed WT license. Same as Israel with Froomes contract btw, but they still are rich rich so they apparently managed to convince Teuns with that. Other teams should learn from it, do not sign expensive guys if the contract ends when the WT cycle end cause you have no time to fix that mistake if he doesn't perform.

Also just when both Wanty and QS get a Devo team, meaning they will get even more competition in the youth categories too. Let's see if they can keep Segaert. I doubt it but the team already gave him the opportunity to have a training camp with the pros earlier on the year and maybe even more worth nothing is that the team/Ridley is letting him ride a prototype bike for Worlds. So finally that new TT bike. He said in an interview that there will be more news about his future after Worlds. He'll be riding for a devo team next year and then full pro in 2024. Could be Lotto, but could also be Elevate (QS).

I predicted this months ago. Every. Single. Thing. But according to others in this thread it wasn't going to be a problem, they would just get promoted 3 years later. According to Lotto, it was fine if they got relegated, no worries.

I am not sure that possibly not having a WT licence affected the choice of too many riders in the transfer market as you can still get an excellent calendar as leading PCT team - Apparently, Teunissen knocked back BEX because of the doubt over the WT licence, although I think it was because they have a below average classics squad - Lotto has never been able to attract quality climbers since Cadel left.

No, they came out of their own youth. Which now isn't going to happen anymore either.

Yeah well that's not confirmed at all. No idea why PCS did that. I think they assumed he would ride for Lotto another year when he told the press he would do another year in the u23 ranks. More news after worlds.

This should be the new Ridley TT bike

2023 will be an interesting year for Ewan - He needs to nail a GT stage win in 2023 after the disappointments of the last three GT's - He should only ride one GT, so the route will determine if that's the Giro or the TDF - Expect, De Lie to ride the Vuelta, so he can develop his Classics potential - My guess is Ewan will be at a different team in 2024.

Unless someone like Wellens can drop an unexpected masterclass somewhere, which isn't totally out of question given the amount of rain that's been falling the past week but still unlikely, this is probably it for Lotto. This was their do or die weekend, and went from a somewhat likely ~400 points (could've been even 700 if everything went their way), to maybe, best case scenario, 150.

How many times do you have to be remindend about the fact that Ewan has a contract till the end of 2024? He either leaves after this season because the team drops down to PCT or he stays till the end of his contract. After 2024 the team will probably go all in on De Lie and he'll probably want to ride to Tour by then, so yes that would be end of the story for Ewan no matter how he performs. Hard to predict tho because you don't know what happens to De Lie (maybe he'll chooses another team) and you don't even know what happens to the team after this year.

Menten to Lotto to replace De Lie in the Pro series and .1 races

he can score quite some points indeed and help them and letting De Lie take a step up in bigger races...
