Voted Pinot but not very happy with the construction of the question TBH

Hope everyone does not vote for Nibali and we see a lot of people voting 'other' who are below the radar.

Not to take anything away from Nibali but you cannot deny the podium battle was much harder than the battle for Yellow.

Can't imagine Sagan getting many votes which is a shame.

Maybe I should have put other names - please accept my apologies but I do only have 10 choices.

Also maybe a 'most improved' poll would be an idea but my knowledge is not sufficient to conduct such a poll.

Maybe that's one for The Hitch ?

Given how you phrased the question, it should be no surprise if nobody votes Sagan. He hasn't outperformed expectations; he's won the maillot vert comfortably, in line with the last two years, but hasn't been able to convert it into a stage win this time, so if anything he's struggling to meet expectations since we expect so much from him.

Nibali and Peraud are seemingly the most logical choices there. I can understand the case for Majka, however the top 2 in the Tour definitely outperformed expectations; Nibali because he was so untroubled, Peraud because he was anticipated for the lower end of the top 10, I thought maybe with a couple of good stages to take him outside of the Zubeldia realm, yet managed to podium on merit with no time gifts.

I am sorry if I phrased the question against Sagan but think Sagan himself would have been dissapointed with this years TDF.

Maybe I should have voted for JCP but he has been in shooting distance of the podium before.

I chose Pinot because I had written him off like many others when he said he was too frighrtened to descend.

But he was arguably the most exciting rider his year, especially on the penultimnate MTF ?? Cant remember. When he dropped Valvered AND Nibali ;)

I voted Sagan of course, but really Majka. Incredible effort, especially considering how the team captain crashed out. A slightly better Plan B than Rickie "Plan B" Porte.

Honourable mentions to Pinot (love him), Peraud, Nibs and Martin.

Voted Pinot just ahead of Peraud. Was very impressed with his form over the final stages and has really worked hard on his descending which threatened to ruin any chance of a high GC finish in grand tours. He has also shown a much better TT performance too which he also needed to improve.

Surely Peraud by a lanslide? Honorable mentions to Kristoff, Navardauskas and perhaps Zubeldia (did not expect to see him in a top 10 ever again in a gt)

Yeh maybe Kristoff rather than Coquard but not Nav and Zub.

I don't think there are too many options here depended on how you take the exit of Contador and Froome. If your expectation is be the best apart from AC and CF then Nibali performed on expectation. Likewise with a number of top contenders, even Peraud, I guess the only thing above expectation for many of them in this light was beating Valverde.
My votes would go to Martin, Gallopin, Majka and Kristoff. One stage win (Kadri, Rogers, Navadauskus, Trentin) is above expectation but can be a little lucky. Martin in a "solo" break was well above expectation. I think 2 stages and KOM for someone who thought they were tired is fantastic. Kristoff to take 2 stages and in the final stage show he can actually go head to head with Kittel in a pure bunch sprint was very positive. Finally Gallopin managing to be consistent enough early to get a day in yellow and then back up for a stage win was superb.

Agreed but it is difficult to actually pose the question

In hindsight I wish I had put in Kristoff.

Which rider has been the one who has outperfomed the most during this tour.

I don't understand the question.....

The Man of the Tour (title) is Nibali, he was The Man.

Both Peraud and Pinot performed way above expectations, so they 'outperformed'.

So which is it The Man or outperforming???

Ok I went for Peraud. Old man makes good!

Yeh I think so.

I did say earlier that it was a difficult question to construct because for all I know an unheard of rider who is still unknown has just had the most amazing tour finishing 112th ????

Pinot. I was surprised by how he handled the pressure from Ag2r in the descents, and I was very surprised that he was able to podium. Even once AC, CF, and AT crashed out I didn't think he would do that good. I was very impressed with him.

Majka with first two pro victories, 2 top finishes and KoM in Paris. No one expected Rafal to be so strong. Now we know why AC asked for Majka as a dom in the mountains.

Rafał Majka was an absolute revelation in the mountains. 2nd in Chamrousse, 1st in Risoul, 1st in Pla d'Adet, 3rd in Hautacam - and on top of that mountain classification victory. And he achieved all these things after GC fight in gruelling Giro. Fantastic.

For me, it's got to be Nibali. He absolutely destroyed it this Tour. Taking yellow on the 2nd stage (19 days in yellow), 4 stage wins, riding like the attacker he is constantly attacking from the cobbles to the mountains, and winning with a close to 8 minute gap.

Given the year he had before I did not expect him to have such a incredible Tour. Majka a close 2nd.

Sorry for being a bit off the "expected" lines:

but my vote goes to the chinese rider. The only rider who rode with a bigger heart was Arashiro, but tht was very much expected from a Japanese rider.

(i dont want to complain abt a badly worded poll anymore. i think tht this is the FightThe.Power norm. atleast he left the "other" option on this time)

I voted for Nibali. Without Froome and Contador in the race, the fact that he won might not be overperforming expectations. But the manner in which he did it makes him the choice for me. 4 road stage victories and his storming ride on the cobbles were not something I would've expected after his lukewarm spring.
