ISN makes sense, thinking about it. They have some guys who know their way around a leadout (Zabel, Impey) and a couple of solid TT engines for the late kms. They’re losing Dan Martin, so a climbing spot with (presumably) a decent wage attached is freed up, which could be filled by a sprinter.It looks like DQS don't want to take Cavendish to the Tour next year, so he probably has to make a decision based on how much he wants to beat that Merckx record.
A team like Israel doesn't have the train, doesn't have the race craft & doesn't have the same power, but, they could offer him a guaranteed Tour start not just next year but the year after as well if he maintains his form. So he could get multiple chances to chase that record.
And if the sticking point in the negotiations is really about money, then Cavendish & Lefevere probably deserve each other. IMO.
I think it’s unlikely, but it’s not impossible.
